Brütal Legend starts out great but then deflates and collapses over itself.
That's kind of amazing. Aside from the first 15 minutes of RE5, I have not played a single one of the top 10.

Agreed. The RTS portions damn near ruined the whole game for me. I'd take it and Red Faction off and replace them with Modern Warfare 2 and Killzone 2. Otherwise I'd probably have all those other games on my list as well.

Yeah Red Faction was also pretty meh.
I'd have a real hard time singling out one of either Demon's Souls, DA: Origins or Uncharted 2 as my favorite game. I spent an unholy amount of time in U2 MP and the SP is still the best out of the three games. Demon's Souls was an amazing ride and Dragon Age was great too.

HOLY SHIT!!! Epic year. This was last gen at it's peak. Sequels that reached their peaks, game ideas that were defining a generation. Every game in the top got over a 9 from me, i dont think I can say that of any year. The honorable mentions list is insane. Ridiculous year.
Up to 2009 now, and it was a very solid year for gaming. One of my favorites of the generation easily. It saw the release of a wide variety of high quality games pushing the tech of the day to its limits.
