Amazing how great Square was back then, and how much credit they are due for the success of Playstation. And amazing how little they matter now.
Ditto for Rare with the N64.

Yep. When I think of Square, I still think of Playstation. It's the same for Metal Gear Solid.

When that game can slip my mind, its a testament to how great the console really was.
My favorite thing about the Playstation was it was out during a time when the audience was just forming. They didn't know what would be blockbusters. They didn't have sequels to pre-existing hits to fall back on. They tried everything and anything on it to see what would sell and what wouldn't. They took a lot more risks back then than they do now. A lot of my favorites have been mentioned already (Vagrant Story and SOTN), but here are a few of the ones that weren't mentioned:

Suikoden 2

Top 5 PS1 game.

What part of "pffft" don't you understand?
Only 6 of the 19 games listed are sequels to games that didn't originate on the Playstation itself.
Suikoden and Tekken started on PSOne.
...the other games listed were incredibly fun or unique games the likes of which are hardly seen today, or they were the precursor of games that only started being appreciated recently.

I was just poking you with a stick.
They do, though.
