Got done listening to it, and as always, a very entertaining listen. Truth be told Aspro, I hadn't heard anyone be so enthusiastic about Blacksite, so I may give it a shot sometime soon.
As for the Queen/Ogre Battle thing - pretty much anything that Matsuno has worked on has some direct or loose reference to Queen. Ogre Battle just happens to be the most obvious - the title of the game is the name of a Queen song, and pretty much all of the subtitles are Queen songs. The only two that aren't are the Nintendo 64 game and one of the Tactics Ogre games. Here's the main song in question. If it's not loading, use this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-SMOsXCc0c
Queen is amazing. They should have their own game. Freddy was like the Gilbert and Sullivan of the 20th century.
On Blacksite, I'd encourage a pick-up at hobo pricing. It's all about the level of expectation -- I went expecting nothing, came out impressed.

Well it's not going to be, at least, not with me there. Earlier is better on my end. If you could assure you being on, I'd gladly pass up this week, but just a probably means the show goes on.

What? I didn't make that reference.
It's another one of those games (the other being Ogre Battle 64) that I can replay, even after all these years and I NEVER replay games!
It's about the comic book style, the intriguing storyline, the freedom of customization of your weapons, the POST game content...
...at the time the style was unlike anything else and the boss battles were EPIC. They are somewhat common-place now, but back then FUUUUUUUUU...! (...as Steel would say...)
A few words of advice: start building your specific weapons as EARLY as possible in the game! Meaning, use ONE weapon for humans, use another for Beasts, use yet another for Dragons and another for Evil/Spirits/Undead. Sometimes, hitting a beast with a weapon will lower your evil stat or hitting a human will lower your undead stat. Be aware of how your weapons are leveling and pay attention to the attributes of your enemies and later on the game will be a bit easier! The first few times I played the game, I wasn't paying attention, got up to my first Dragon and had to fight it for over an hour, chipping away at its health and that SUCKED! Don't let that happen, it may ruin the game for you. Also, if you get gems that up your damage against humans/beasts, etc... throw them into the weapons you are using for those enemies immediately! If you forge and fuse weapons, make sure you pay attention to the outcome stats as well!
It was a game that allowed you to play it as YOU liked (at least weapon wise). That kind of freedom was unprecedented in the PSOne days... It was a cool contrast to how Sidney was leading EVERYONE in the game around by their noses...
I even loved Sidney as a nemesis. There's just too much about that game to love!
___________
I just LOVE how (due mostly to digital download) almost every single one of my favorite games of all time are accessible to me to play in a matter of a few moments.
Super Metroid on VC.
Ogre Battle 64 on VC.
Symphony of the Night on PSN.
Vagrant Story (Coming Soon!) on PSN.
___________
If I wanted to go all out, I could buy Metroid Prime Trilogy, TWEWY and Metal Gear Solid 4 and own them all, but WOW... What an incredible time to be a gamer, eh?
Why is the introduction of Wanzers or Mechs... which are basically HUGE, Bi-Pedal Tanks... so outlandish...?
That or Dinosaurs... Errrr...?
Next saturday is an MMA fight I will probably be out. As usual I am a week behind in the podcast listening so I will get around to this one maybe next week.
