I'm talking slight motions... Not looking from side to side!
I think by now Nintendo has refined motion control enough to do read very fine movements...
...or were your referring to the 3DS...?
edgecrusher said:So it sounds like, if all this is true, the new Nintendo console is going to be very similar in design to the Xbox 360, using a very PC-like architecture for easy developement, but a more powerful version. With a dual analog controller that has a LCD touchscreen on it, making it almost like a handheld/controller hybrid. This will also be the 1st Nintendo console to support HDMI video and digital audio.
I'm definitely all for going back to dual analog, because in my opinion that was the worst thing about the Wii, and its weakest link; no 2nd analog stick for camera control. It forced games to be designed in almost an N64-ish way since camera control was limited, and the games that allowed you to use the remote for camera had mixed results at best. Unless it was a FPS, of course.
American studio readying a tech demo? Obviously Retro Studios. If anyone can show off what a new console can do, its them.
I don't think head-tracking would be for me. The right analogue stick works just fine for changing the view, IMO.
BTW, that has to be the dumbest sounding code name for a console of all time. We went from Nintendo's past code names: "Project Reality", "Dolphin", and "Revolution" to "Project Cafe"?
"The whole cafe concept seems to suggest a group of people together chatting and being social too!
Look at all the social things built into the 3DS!"
I just hope they don't go over-board with "social" games...
The world has enough Farmvilles and Mafia Wars already!!
Imagine an MMO like Animal Crossing though...!

Ewwww!
Okay like I mentioned before the screen rumours really sound like Nintendo is going to use a Haptic Touchscreen.
Demo of the Immersion Haptic Touchscreen CES 2009
Also Hamster, you clearly have no idea what Head Movement entails.

Seen that before. Meh.
My prediction. It will be a wiimote like structure with an analogue stick on the top and a d-pad on the button. There will be a trigger like the wiimote and some shoulder buttons if you hold the mote horizontally. The rest will be the haptic touch screen. This means that buttons will change from game to game. Thanks to the haptic interface you will be able to feel the buttons. There will be two haptic wiimotes in the box. You can use one like the nunchuck and the other one like the Wiimote. Or you could dual wield. IR pointing will return
Put it to the side and it can be any controller you want. Also the sensor bar will have a camera. This will allow head movement. Meaning 3D gaming for everyone. Also let's start with some crazy stuff now. Wii balance board will be included. It will be backwards compatible with the Wii and GG. You will be able to download Saturn and Dreamcast games. It will be more powerful than 360/PS3 but weaker than Fedor. So there.
My prediction:
- Traditional gamepad. No touchscreen. No motion controls. Wii support the Wii Remote and GCN controller for BC, and any new games if devs wish to use them.
- Better than 360/PS3 level graphics.
- Blu-ray drive for games and movies
- SD card support
- HDMI ouput
- Digital audio optical port.
- All VC/WiiWare games transferable to new console from Wii for free.
- Cost $249.

I'd actually prefer something much simpler too. I find myself playing alot of DL-able games and Online Shooters at the moment. I don't wanna be flailing all about anymore! If they are going to do motion control, do something simpler and more natural, if you ask me!
I think Nintendo may have learned their lesson too. You don't really see "Shake the Wii Mote to Jump!" or "Swing the Wii Mote from Left to Right to Strike!" anymore!
They are trying to get as close to natural motion and pointing these days, and I appreciate that!
...and it seems (as illustrated by Iga's Head Tracking video) they could do "3D" on a normal HD Television screen too!
Wood paneling. Nintendo is going for a retro look and is going to have a wood paneled console.
Gonna move my stuff here to contain it and not bombard the News Forum!!
Here's my current train of thought!

I am thinking the motion control is all gonna be in your head...
...errr...
ON Your head...!
Like a head-tracking motion device to track vision and then a dual shock like controller for the buttons... and the view-screen!
Built in Blue-tooth device for speech of course!
________________
I don't like the dual controller set-up.
If they can get rid of the nunchuk and the wire between, I am all for it!
I am also prediciting a HUGE push for online and the headset would make sense for that too!
________________
Nintendo has always been about inviting large groups of people to participate, play or just watch... they would never limit a home console to a way in which ONLY people holding a control device could see or play...
________________
The whole cafe concept seems to suggest a group of people together chatting and being social too!
Look at all the social things built into the 3DS!
________________
Nintendo (lately) seems to be about listening to what players want... I think this system is going to be INSANELY robust when it comes to online, social gaming and community building. Headset MUST be considered for speech... prolly a big focus on FPS...
Retro will show Metroid Prime Hunters 2 as it's example of the new hardware at E3... mark. my. words!!
