That music was *cue Homer's voice* FUCKING AWWWWESOME!!!
...So far the whole game has been too!
I've come across (recent discussions) in forums talking about there being no PAL release of Deadly Premonition. I've been seeing the game listed on zavvi (a UK website) for at least a few months now. Now that webshop only sells PALs releases so I don't know what the deal is with that. I find it hard to believe it was released without anyone realizing or that it's exclusive to zavvi. Anyway, internet nerds far greater than I would have sniffed it out a long time ago. But it does look legit. Check it here. It has a different cover, and a noticable Rising Star Games logo in the bottom right corner and is available for immediate dispatch. Oh well, only one way to find out ...
It was released in the UK about 3 months ago. EDGE gave it a 7 out of 10, which when you read their review was very fair. They also wrote an editorial about it -- I'll transcribe it here sooner than later.
I was speaking earlier about how I had not been exposed to much horror. Because it was raingin yesterday I was stuck inside and played almost all of Condemned. Nothing but FREAKY FREAKY SICK VIOLENT nightmares ALL NIGHT LONG.

condemned did look very sick, scary, violent and worst of all claustrophobic. i bought it for PC but never played it. i seem to recall impressions and reviews saying they toned it down somewhat for the sequel
I don't know what I was thinking. I'll still finish it, hopefully today, I just have one stage left. But yeah, Amityville Horror when I was 10 and Condemned, nice bookends for a life otherwise not exposed to violence.
I had the sound off most of the day, because I was listening to documentaries/ podcasts etc... but when I ran out of those last night I listened to the game -- made SO much of a difference in terms of the shock value. Robio would have something to say about that I guess. But yeah horror is weird, like I had tingles in my leg or arms a couple of times -- other emotions can't be that easily conjured from a TV. Must be a call-back to the fight-or-flight instinct hard-coded in us.
it's strange what the (each one's) brain finds scary or reacts in that way to. normally i'm fine with most games/films which are categorized as horror. the scariest game I tried recently, which I had to switch off, was Braid. Not sure why, but it gave me a terrible claustrophobic and oppressive feeling. Hated it.
Yeah Condemned is very atmospheric and genuinely creepy. I found I didn't like many of the design elements, which is why I dumped it, but visually/aurally it definitely is an unnerving experience.
Braid gives me headaches. Dunno why.
I am actually enjoying the game quite a bit. I don't know why but I had the impression it was a poor game (when infact it has a 8.3 on gamerankings). I know where the story is going (and did from about 20 minutes in), but it's still very involving. I also like that the two main characters (Ethan and Rosa) look like regular US government employees -- not movie stars like every other game. They are kinda heavy, normal wrinkled faces.
I showed the vibrating cat along with the salsa beats from Deadly Premonition. She couldn't stop laughing. She said she could watch that for an entire day.
"Why are these kids smelling my ass, Zach?"
...
The Credits Roll on Deadly Premonition.
You beat it eh? I gave the game a 9. I took off a point for the map and the final boss battle.
The epilogue makes up for it somewhat. Thanks for giving it a chance, and I am glad you enjoyed it. Any idea what is next?
I was just considering that. No idea at the moment.
It will probably one of these four:
_____________
PS3:
Enslaved --or-- Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
360:
Dead Rising 2 --or-- Nier
_____________
I don't want anything shooter-y...
...and I'd prefer NOT Sand-Box-y.
Hmmm...

I don;t know what I'd do with that selection. Probably Enslaved (but I never liked AssCreed or Dead Rising -- which is counter to most people's taste).
Ah, okay. Yeah they break out that music with the dog running scene.
I also knew he was gay right away, they went over board with his body language (but then I also have a strong Gaydar in real life -- can you be straight and have a gaydar?).
