Why are they making this for PS3? Hrm

DS and PS3 match up how? Hrm Damnit.

It's a PS3 game with Wii graphics, yet not on Wii Hrm

Another Code R has visuals at least as good if not better.

I am just pissed I don't get to play it. Hrm

I would probably still buy the game, I just wouldn't be able to ever play it Sad

Good thing it isn't 360 exclusive

The DS version should still be great at least.

Why GASP

doesn't make sense.  the DS version not being the only one makes it worthless?

I would rather play a lavishly made home console version, but I can't. Fuck them.

It doesn't look as great as I thought it would reading the reactions elsewhere. It still looks good, but hardly top tier PS3 visuals really. Especially the environment textures up close. It does look Wii-ish, Tales of Graces-ish. Kind of a shame they didn't go 2D. Also, anyone else think DS will be the definitive version still (edit: nevermind, so they're separated games then, so one would be the sequel since it has the same characters and places? which one then? probably the PS3 game since in the DS footage he discovers the stuff for the first time, I think that will make for a more charming story as well, as long as there are no cliff hangers and Potter-ism)? At least, they didn't hint at Move support and the drawing-based spell casting like we see in the DS trailers. Yet. But they said it has a spell book too.

Let me explain my feelings. I'm a huge Studio Ghibli fan, probably more than anyone here at this site I'm guessing.

I own every movie they ever made, even pre-ghibli stuff like the Little Norse Prince.

I import asian editions of their movies because they release 6 months to a year earlier, then I buy the western versions as well. I own about 10 official soundtracks and image albums from Studio Ghibli films. I have art books from the movies.

I paid £30/$60 for Ponyo on dvd. I spent the same amount buying the Ghibli concert anniversary dvd. Spirited Away and Howls Moving Castle are in my top 4 movies of all time.

I always knew there was a home console version of Ninokuni coming and was looking forward to it, we had already known about the DS game, then they release it as a PS3 exclusive out of left field.

There is no way I can play the DS game without thinking about what I am missing out on the PS3. For me it would be like buying the DS Assasins Creed when there is a far superior home console game out there. I could understand if they were doing something that used the PS3's tech, but when I look at the screens and video, it looks no better than Another Code R on Wii.

They could at least make it multi-platform.

Level 5 is a japanese company and they've snubbed the console with the largest install base, not only in their motherland of japan but also worldwide. If Ninokuni was announced on PSP and then a PS3 version was announced, so be it, but the DS to PS3 curveball has just thrown me. I'm a huge Ghibli fan, but not huge enough to buy a whole new console to play it. Level 5 has kicked me in the balls here and I'm upset. No way will I buy the DS game now.

But that reflects my bitter Ghibli fandom.

GG sounds like me about MGS PW.

So these are those dudes that do those Japanese cartoon movies I never watch. Looks STUNNING. And it feels like a perfect old school RPG, almost Dragon Quest 8 like. I am interested.

You see this Level 5?! He doesn't even watch the movies and he gets to play it!

This is how I envisioned the FF PS1 overworlds with today's graphics. Amazing.

Is this based on a movie or is it a new character.

Definitely not a up-scaled Wii game:

I think it's coming to the PS3 because this game will be pretty huge in Japan. And they probably wanted this game to be a spectacular once in a lifetime event for this generation, so I can understand the PS3 treatment.

I just don't think you can do this type of thing with the Wii. The PS3 is perfect because of the technology and blu-ray. Disc space, power, high-tech, and HD.

As to why it's for the DS and PS3? I have no idea. I think this was made for the DS first and then decided later on to make it a full-blown console game afterwards.

I just hope it's coming here, both versions. I'd finally buy a PS3 JUST FOR THIS GAME!!!
