IGN eyes on trailer and screens
A lone warrior chopping through an army of robotic warriors with an outsized Cloud Strife-like energy sword. Colossal war machines advancing though a misty canyon, shooting anything that moves. The few remaining human defenders hiding behind simple wooden shields that are no match for high-energy weapons. Welcome to the world of Monado.
The debut trailer for Monado: Beginning of the World premiered today at E3: 2009, and first impressions for the new Wii RPG are that the beginning is going to be pretty exciting. Things kick off with that canyon-set battle, revealing more and bigger enemies with an interesting steampunk design. Things likely don't end well for our lone warrior, as we soon segue to a young blonde hero discovering that energy sword - now inert - only to see it flash blindingly to life the moment he picks it up. Your standard JRPG Hero's Journey (tm) is definitely in full effect here, with just a dash of King Arthur.
Gameplay appears to be open-world, where you'll traverse lush jungles, glowing forests, climb sheer walls, and encounter the crumbling remains of a conquered people. It looks nicely textured and details pop, animating at what looks like a smooth 30 fps.
Players will pick up two partners in their travels, and while combat initially looks turn-based, we saw all three party members attacking simultaneously. Transitions into combat are completely seamless; characters approach enemies, draw weapons, and it's on. One scene showed your team (wielding much smaller edged weaponry) surrounding a lizard-man enemy, who didn't make much of a dent in their lifebars before it was downed. A much larger lizard-man (a good twenty feet tall) and giant mutant crab monster probably fared better.

Hit the HQ option.
The enemies are easy because you are a bit overlevelled, because you are doing all these sidequests, I happened to me too.
You hate what makes RPGs, RPGs. Don't throw out your items yet, There is no better feeling in the world then accepting a fetch quest and quickly seeing that you have all the needed items.
True that. My advice when you enter a new area quickly find a NPCs and accept all the fetch quests you can find. Then explore the area and see your quest completed as you explore.
P.S. I told you the field design beats any Zelda game easily
It will get better once you get more characters and you start fighting enemies that out level you. Do you have your 3rd character yet?
Yes agily is the stat that determines your evasion and accuracy. If you fight enemies that out level highly, you need boost your agility, just to be able to hit it. You will get a character later in the game that greatly uses agility.
Ah so that is why I cant hit some enemies, sweet. Yeah I have my third character. I do not throw out the collectable items, I am talking about my equipment, I hate it being all cluttered.
Don't throw those away just yet! There is nothing better that the feeling you get by ruining a dramatic cut scene by dressing your character up in the most ridiculous outfits.
The third character is kinda useless if you know how to play. She only slow shit down. Once you get your fifth character dump her and Reyn.
Dump Reyn?! But but...
I disagree with this. You can make higher level stuff than what you are given quite easily and it has real benefits in the game. Vader try and get the other reactor ASAP too.
Vader the items you are suppossed to register in the encyclopedia and it gives you weapons and gems in exchange. The other items are for quests, they will have a ! mark next to them, do not sell these. Then the rest are for raising your affinity between characters, you give them as gifts and it will eventually allow you to view the heart to heart chats.
Oh and you will need lots and lots of these materials to rebuild *********** later in the game.
I love the combat. I think you need to get into a balls to the wall, skin of your teeth battle to feel that adrenaline pumping. Wait till you face off with more powerful enemies and not ones which just crush you, ones where you have a chance but it's tough as hell.
Don't listen to him!
God dammit GG watch the spoilers.
Another tip do not listen to GG, heck do not even read his posts. He is spoiling stuff already.
GG has not even finished the game, I pretty much did everything.
When I tell you to dump Reyn I mean it. Another character will do what he does much better.
Xord is so awesome! I love the cast of baddies so far, the voice acting makes them, its like a cast of angry pirates. The story is really great so far with loads of big action moments.
I finally fought my first yellow level enemy, it was a big fight lasting like 5 minutes and i won but it was close. Most of the time I was just yelling at my healer to do something but she wouldnt , I know cool downs but still, it sucks that I cant manage that. I dont want to play as her cause that bores me but I just want to be able to switch when I need to. I can manage the attacking well but it seems like everything else is automatic and I have no control of it. In combat character switching would have fixed this easily. FFXII handles this by allowing me to customize how they will react in every situation. So that is still my biggest complaint.
Awesome game regardless.
I think you can just change rifles so the cooldown time is lower. Really you shouldn't have a problem with Sharla at all till right near the end with the harder bosses. But yeah if you are trying to beat enemies that are higher levelled than you are you will come across difficulty.
