I let me subscription expire snd theres not enough older games to lure me back. My kids are playing a lot of Mario Kart lately but just with their cousins and themselves.
I still really don't like the forced option to pay for the service in order to play the older libraries though. I've bought and in some cases, reebot these games on the virtual console already. The idea that I have to now pay another fee to keep playing these games is ridiculous. They know who I am, they know what my past purchase history is, I should be able to continue to play them regardless of the hardware.
And, it's a battle I'm not going to win, but I'm going to stand by it and I won't pay for Nintendo online. Then again, not having a switch anymore makes that a much easier stance to take.
Agreed. Don’t like paying to play online and would rather just be able to buy those older games like we could on the Wii and Wii U Virtual Console. Sucks that they got rid of that. Thankfully Nintendo’s service is fairly cheap although I’d bet dollars to donuts that it’ll go up in price with the Switch 2.
In a shocking twist Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak wasn’t the only game I played this weekend. I also played Sparkster from the Resparked Collection. Haven’t played that since the SNES days. Still such a great game.
It's been an N64 weekend for me: Pilotwings 64, Wave Race 64, and Mario Kart 64.
I tried The Callisto Protocol again, only to drop it again. I've been playing Perfect Dark on the Xbox this weekend.
Had a weekend at the beachhouse so got to play ps4. Chipped away at FF7 Remake. Back on Earth I've been enjoying Steam library on the new gaming PC. Played Desk Job and now Beginniners Guide. Suddenly my Steam Library seems small now that i can play PC games every night. Damn internet limits!
I told ya!
Credit to you, I've nerv even heard of that.
lol at last para. I am with you, as long as they charge for online I'll emulate thank you very much. When I was Splatoon and Rocket League active it was worth it, but I can play RL on PC for free. I don't need their nanny gated acess to mostly shitty retro games that I already own.
I guess paying for online is here to stay. I don't mind it much on Switch. I find the 'family' membership a bit steep at €35, but hey, it's better than the incessant whining of the kids because they can't play Splatoon. I also don't care enough for the retro gaming aspect to pay for the more expensive one, which I find is just too expensive if you need more than one account.
And really, the online account's price is justified by Tetris99 alone. Sweet, sweet Tetris99.
Edit, nvmd, saw your post
Like Asphalt. If you really like the game and want to pay real money for a specific car or skin. That's fine imo.
Currently none, haven’t been playing too much on my Switch in general lately. The last big online game for me was Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. Would have played more of that but ended up moving over to the Xbox and PlayStation versions. Also like having the online features of Super Mario Bros. Wonder as well. Need to get back to that game.
I wasn't aware of that. They must've worked out a deal so Fortnite works like how MMOs do on console; MMOs don't require console online services at all either.
The thing that shits me the most about paid online is that XBL was heads and shoulders above Nintendo and Sony's online. Then Sony and Nintendo both started charging...and their services were just as shit as they were when free. Still were years (a decade later at this point?) the last time I was shameful enough to pay for them. At least when Microsoft were extorting their consumers, they at least tried to give them a solid product.
If they can do it, why can't a huge company like Nintendo do it.
Guess cause they want more money.
