Oh crap.

I don't mind it outside of combat, but during is annoying AF.

Is there at least solid ground to fall to, not bottomless pits?

Lots of bottomless pits and lava; you're not set back too far most of the time, though. Platforming is required to navigate the world, kinda like Metroid Prime. On combat it's mostly monkey bars and higher and lower platforms and jump pads.

At a certain point Doom 2016 started being more Metroid in its platforming and it felt a bit weird when it was overused. That cylinder chamber went up forever.

Nintendo Switch 2 will be the instrument of Xbox’s revenge on PS5 – Reader’s Feature

https://metro.co.uk/2025/01/25/nintendo-switch-2-will-instrument-xboxs-revenge-ps5-readers-feature-22432056/

I haven't read this article/reader letter in full, but I found the sentiment interesting.

Do you see any truth or likelihood of this? I'd say no, given all the PS5 ports they are doing.

So there's been reports of steamdeck sales tanking when Switch 2 was announced.

It appears it was an admin error.

Shows how the Internet works, 15 articles on tanking Steamdeck sales. Then 1 article correcting that.

Hey I came in here to tell that joke! My fault for taking a few days off to enjoy the warm tropic waters to soothe my @#$%^ing sciatic and back pain.

15-20 years ago, I would have been all over Doom Dark Ages. It looks way to intense for me to even consider playing today.

That's what I said to myself at the beach today looking at the various bikini'd distractions.

I would not have even thought to do something like that. I was in a weird Japanese store, I saw yakuza 2, the PS2 and a KK Slider plushie and I had no other thought than to buy them on the spot.

You have no impulse control?

Yeah.. not sure what you are talking about there.... Happy

Unless it is an action that would have a negative impact on another living being I have ZERO, probably less than ZERO impulse control. If I had my favoritve beer or tequila on-tap in my house I'd be dead in 4 hours.
