How so? Its certainly took some adjusting to the gameplay.

Fake Harrison Ford, comical optimisation (just a PC version problem), Quantic Dream-level gameplay or lack thereof (I presume this will change later on), non-triple A pacing. The last thing is to its credit, though.

Riddick was a slow burn as well.

I've been dabbling again, Slay the Spire and Balatro. I could hook up a controller to this PC, or turn on a real console, but the weather is so nice I've been hanging outside most of the time (including right now). 30 degrees, but pleasant.

GG I asked coPilot to give me a summary of known Switch 2 rumours and this is what it spat out.  It that about it?

  • Release Date: Expected to be revealed in January 2025, with a possible launch by June or July.

  • Design: The Switch 2 may resemble the original Switch but with a larger size, USB-C ports, and an improved dock. It might also feature a second USB-C port for charging while in handheld mode1.

  • Performance: Rumored to have an 8-core Cortex-A78AE processor, 8GB of RAM, and an 8-inch LCD display. It's expected to be significantly more powerful than the original Switch1.

  • Backward Compatibility: The Switch 2 will be backward compatible with the original Switch, allowing access to its vast library of games.

  • Joy-Cons: The new controllers are rumored to use Hall effect joysticks, which should eliminate the stick drift issue that plagues the current Joy-Cons.

  • Price: Expected to cost between $399 and $449.

Relatively accurate aside from the RAM which is 12gb.

Missing a lot of details, like the gpu, HDD speed, memory cards etc.

Switch 2 Hardware Is Allegedly So Capable That a Lot of Players Will Be Surprised

Nintendo Switch 2 hardware is rumored to be more powerful than expected, leaving players pleasantly surprised.
Fans await big the reveal as Nintendo confirms Switch 2 in development and is expected to be announced by March 2025.
Switch 2 may see more AAA titles due to hardware capabilities, pleasing both Nintendo and third-party developers.

On the InstallBase forums, user Matt, who has been described as a "trusted developer" by many in the community, has made a remarkable claim about the Nintendo Switch 2. Replying to a user who stated that the Switch 2 might not be much more powerful than the PlayStation 4, Matt states that the "hardware is very capable." He further adds that a lot of people will be "pleasantly surprised," which possibly hints towards the fact that the Nintendo Switch 2 might have even better hardware capabilities than what fans have been expecting.

Matt further adds that both Nintendo and third-party developers see the Switch 2 as a "big potential growth driver." This suggests that the Switch 2 could get a lot more AAA titles than the norm for the Switch. However, he further notes that it will not be getting every AAA title all the time. The hardware isn't the only reason, as he also outlines that more third-party developers will be interested in developing games for the Nintendo Switch 2 because of current market conditions

I gave Wario Woods (NES) a try on NSO this morning and I'm hooked. It's more fun than I was expecting.

I will argue that Wario's Woods is not a Wario game at all. You play the game as Toad. Wario is just the ever present bad guy.

The first true Wario game I ever played was the one on Virtual Boy. It's a shame that's never been re-released,

So off the top of my head, the joycons are magnetic, larger, use hall effect sticks and has a secret thumb stick feature. A  patent shows control sticks which can change viscosity when you change the electrical current. So imagine a stick that becomes stiffer as your car takes damage to suspension.

Or a stick that turns to mush when your characters feet enter a swamp. I don't know how effective the tech is, just hypothetical.

The 256gb HDD is almost as fast as the solid state drives in the PS5 and Xbox.

It's rumoured that there is a grey and white choice of launch models and a special edition based on the 9th version of a game franchise.

It uses SD Express memory cards which can rival normal PC HDD speeds, not solid state.

The memory bandwidth is great, 100gb/s, it has slightly more usable ram than the series S.

It's rumoured to have a t239 gpu chip from Nvidia, it's a couple of years old now, so there may have been a die shrink to 4nm. Otherwise it's 8nm.

I suspect it's still 8nm and because it's a large chip they made the screen larger, 8 inches at 1080p.

It uses DLSS and has its own tensor cores and is capable of hardware ray tracing.

Also has a File Compression engine for super fast loading.

The game carts are speculated as being 3d nand carts which can hold I think up to 50gb, but I may be mistaken.

It has a U shaped kickstand and the dock is shorter so some of the screen is exposed, presumably to allow it to display info when docked. Alarm clock? Weather?

The dock is fatter, some speculate that it's because there are more fans built into it.

Rumor is it will run at a lower power state when portable, with a longer battery life compared to switch.

Okay, Indiana Jones throwing priceless (I presume) statues at blackshirts in the Vatican while the Pope is on holiday is hilarious.

True. It has kick-ass sound track and that's about it. Other than it was the last game Nintendo published for the SNES.

Youtube keeps popping up with rtx 3050 game test videos (said to be similar to the Switch 2 gpu)

The one I saw last night ran 40 games all at 1080p. But what was interesting was that all the games were running at ultra settings.

When he enabled DLSS he kept the resolution at 1080p but the framerate spiked bare minimum +30fps.

The 3050 basically ran everything they put on it.

If Switch 2 can match the card it seems it won't have many problems running AAA games. I guess the cpu is in doubt, we don't know if Nintendo will throttle the wattage down for heat reasons.

And the gpu itself may be pared down with less shader cores.

Many of the videos are shown with and without DLSS. It really works and does make a big difference.

It either massively boosts the frame rate, massively boosts the resolution or sometimes both.

I'm used to 30fps or 60fps, the DLSS framerates achieved were ridiculous, 144fps sometimes more.

Super late but important game recommendation for Christmas.

Yuletide Legends: who framed Santa Claus.

I got this on sale but was saving this for Christmas and started it. It's super Christmas atmosphere, full on baubles and trees and Santa.

You play as a yuletude Detective, trying to save Christmas. It's a game you can play with the family, spotting items and clues. Super chilled out too.

Because there's a lot of old Christmas tunes and carols the game has traditional tunes you know. It's playing God rest ye merry gentlemen as I type.

I got it for like 2 usd but sometimes it's on sale for 13 dollars.

Santa is locked in jail, I just chased Krampus up Big Ben clock tower and threw snowballs at a sentient pirate teddy bear.

Then I grabbed onto Santa's sleigh in an epic midair jump to save Christmas. Now I'm locked inside an ice jail.
