This console is the nicest looking product Nintendo has ever put out. It's beautiful. The screen is HUGE and the visuals so crisp, makes switch 1 look like a kids toy. Honestly can't imagine letting kids handle this thing, it feels like $400. On dock mode I feel I lose some color, I don't know if it's something with my OLED, or maybe on handheld they have color and contrast up all the way or something. Odyssey looks incredible. Zelda echoes now runs silky smooth through areas where there were frame drops. Metroid looks better.  Oh the joycons feel much more sturdy and the magnets are so good. Still I rather use my pro controller. Oh and rumble much better.

Mario Kart is a ton of fun, especially the elimination mode. That's where you travel from one track to another and lose 4 racers at each checkpoint. Basically it's a survival mode. The tracks are lively with tons going on. Game looks nice, runs beautifully. Online ran perfectly for me and it's so chaotic. Now with 24 racers it's wild shit happening, I went from 3rd place to last in line 4 seconds. The free roam seems to have little things to do and hard to reach items, I like it so far but they could have put much more and better content there. Oh online mode needs some kind of ranking system, or progress or anything. It's just race against randoms.

It even smells like high end hardware. Switch never had that.

LOL

Probably happen to me too.
Tell your wife that your bros on the Internet won't consider you a real man without HDR.

Like the Internet said Switch 2 feels incredibly thin, even though it's the same thickness as normal Switch.

Because it's so large, you expect it to be chunky.

Also, like my phone, whenever you want to set up a new device it starts with the screen on like 10% brightness with no way to alter it until setup is complete.

When was this ever considered a good idea?

My daughter has been driving around in free roam collecting as many outfits as possible. I got to admit the old school Mario tunes are hitting me in the feels.

Did the system transfer and it's trying to redownload all 374 digital games I own.

I'm having to manually cancel them one by one. It's ridiculous, no mass edit option.

I haven't played any games yet as Mario Kart is downloading, but so far the screen is definitely no OLED.

The Dark theme helps.

Yeah, it wanted to download a bunch of my digital games and dlc. Canceled each one as well. A mass cancel would have been nice. Thankfully I didn’t have all that many though.

I'm going to hold out for an OLED model.

I've had my Switch 1 on dark mode so long I'd forgotten there were other theme options, lol

Actually  I tried Mario Odyssey on it and wow, not far off OLED quality.

Helps that the technical update is pretty incredible. It looks as good as what a remaster would.

I gave up cancelling them. I'll mass delete them instead.

Dvader is right, colours muted on tv, because you need to calibrate for the new input.

But also in switch 2 system settings when I try to calibrate hdr it says my TV doesn't support it and to go into tv settings.

I know my tv has hdr 10 and that is what switch 2 uses. Once I figure this out I suspect the colours will look awesome on my oled tv

BK there is some site, maybe DF, that trashed the switch 2 HDR usage saying its broken leading to terrible blacks and that the OLED switch 1 has better image quality, but obviously will never have the performance boost. Also docked HDR is borked he says, it's game by game though.  I never had the OLED switch so I can't tell the difference but you might.

Wow I've only played Mario Odyssey and Guacamelee 2 so far but wow the portable experience is so much better.

The loading is insane, literally 1 second for both games to get into a level. The extra horsepower paired with the higher def screen is so much better than sub HD Mario Odyssey on a 720p screen.

If they had 2tb cards at a decent price I'd migrate everything across right now and sell the OLED.

It's the video I posted in the updates. I suspect that the games I've been trying aren't HDR enabled. Because hdr enabled is there for all games as blanket you assume all games will benefit from it.

But I think its only hdr enabled games where you will see the difference.

We need to work out this hdr thing.

Anyone with an HDR tv and switch 2 go to system settings on switch 2 and click calibrate hdr.

See if you get the same message I did.

In regards to the switch OLED, it's got perfect blacks, even lighting and excellent per pixel contrast.

In 2D games, sure it's better than any other tv technology I've seen. OLEDs I mean.

But Switch 2s screen is bigger, higher definition and the system is more powerful and faster loading. So the combination of all these things is going to make playing 3D games on s2, a much better experience over s1.

I read on Eurogamer that GameStop stapled people's receipts directly to the Switch 2 box and damaged screens. How thin is the box?!

They put the tablet right on the top of the box weirdly. There's two layers of thin cardboard between the screen and you.

A hard ish impact could crack the screen. Weird decision but mine arrived in tact.

I just watched an unboxing video. There isn't much protection. GameStop shouldn't have used stapes anyway; thats just dumb.

I don't think GameStop has made a good decision since 2012.
