Next to it, we can see soldered memory from SK Hynix (codenamed H58GE6AK8BX104N). This corresponds to 6 GB LPDDR5 models, and there are two of them for 12 GB total, three times more than the amount found on a regular Nintendo Switch. We also get to see two USB-C ports and the cartridge slot, but no micro SD card slot for some reason. If that is indeed the case, a storage expansion is likely on the cards for the Nintendo Switch 2.
While an Ampere chip with 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM should be able to pull off 4K 30 FPS, it will require the assistance of AI-powered chicanery. Then again, Nintendo has clearly bowed out of the high-end console rat race and repeatedly stated the Switch 2 will be more of a side grade than a real upgrade. If an older rumour is true, we should know for certain on January 8.

Interesting Switch 2 Patent suggesting upscaling from 1080p to reduce game sizes to fit on the 32gb max size game carts Switch 1 supports.
They say a 4k 60gb game can render at 1080p and be 20gb big and then use what we assume to be DLSS to upscale to 4k.
What more interesting is that there's talk of training Switch 2 to learn how to better upscale your game by using screenshots from the 4k builds of other systems?
It sounds more plausible as the recent rtx 3050 8gb ver videos I've seen show that it can basically run anything at 1080p at high to ultra settings at a decent framerate. Though the shader cores may be reduced on Switch 2 as well as other compromises. The 12gb of RAM suggests it will output at higher resolutions though.
I have seen the rtx 3050 doing 2k and 4k using dlss and running at decent framerates. But we don't know how good Switch 2s cpu will be. Personally I don't have a problem with 1080p on a 4ktv. Most Switch games are sub 1080p anyway. And I can always use Mclassic to get 2k anyway, but that doesn't help with muddy textures and poor framerates.
Switch 2 shouldn't have that problem.
Also people online have said that their SOC of Switch 2 is 5nm going by measurements as people were freaking out assuming it's 8nm because of Samsung.
Also there was some tit for tat on X by Tom Warren of the Verge saying that the funniest thing was that people thought Switch 2 would be ps4pro power - intimating it would be worse.
Then Digital Foundrys John Lineman replied that it would be "quite superior" compared to ps4pro given Nvidia architecture and access to features ps4 pro never had. But that Switch 2 will be limited in other ways due to the form factor.
I looked up a list of releases and was quite surprised at how many different versions/sequels its had over the last 30 years. The original is all I need, though.
I think I have that game on my TG-16 Mini. I'll have to check it out soon.
I only ever played the original Bubble Bobble arcade game but I loved it. It would be great if they released some kind of compilation for current systems.
