The future of video game graphics? Pretty coolView on YouTube
News: Hasbro Invest $1 Billionin games.
If I was on the board of Hasbro I would be asking questions as to why we've given a billion dollars to a clown that can produce a sentence like this:
"Video games is part of that thing when the comapny says it's going to be focusing on certain things."
View on YouTube
We really are going to have to (as a culture) are going to go through a period of un-learning the concept of "seeing is believing" when it comes to video presentation. Some of that was in the uncanny valley (the scene driving through the valley actually).
They went overboard with the motion blur and depth of field effects when driving around. Scaling those back would likely reduce some of that uncanny valley feeling.
Edit: That actual valley made me want a new Motorstorm.
Just saved me $70.
Ooof. That's insane. Game ownership is heading into Blockbuster territory.
I saw Alien in theaters for its 45th anniversary, still a classic. but aliens is still better. I'm going to see The Phantom Menace this weekend, 25th anniversary, I'm taking my nephew who fits the age range for that movie way better than I did when it came out lol.
Did you know a new Beverly Hills Cop is coming out on Netflix in a few months?!
Honestly, after the Coming to America sequel that Eddie did for Netflix, my expectations are very low.
This is why I've been reversing my stance on digital only. God knows it's convenient and cheaper but publishers seem to be getting bolder about how much control they want over your library.
I don't have much faith in that happening these days, though. Maybe they'll shut down one of Elon's favorite games and he'll sue them, lol.
It's from the same directors that did the last one though. I heard that one wasn't half bad.
I don't know how well that would work out. All things considered, Elon doesn't really win very often in the courtroom.
Wtf, Netflix is ending basic membership. Now it's going to have adverts. It's cheaper and full HD and you can stream on 2 screens. But it has ads unless you upgrade to a more expensive option.
Playing Endless Ocean Luminous, 15 min take, awesome graphics, nice shades, depth of field and resolution.
No operatic music, wii like menus, no motion controls.
Saw some mythical creatures which were cool. You're interrupted and guided by an AI voice, would have preferred a decent voice actor.
Haven't played enough to get a sense of its likeness to the first or second games yet.
Everything is persistent, cargo you tip over, things you've abandoned, the last position you left your trucks in. There is a delete trailer and delete cargo option but you can't sell it then.
The game had 2 free DLC trucks, I thought I had to buy them with in game currency, but I was wrong. Quite happy though as having it a bit tough is the Mudrunner way.
Not sure what to make of Endless Ocean 3.
I did the story tutorial missions which are 5 min segments in quickfire succession. Then it says I have to scan 500 fish to go to the next chapter. My only options are online dive, solo dive or repeat the tutorial segments.
So I dove into solo dives. There don't seem to be dive sites like the first two games. It feels like a big empty space where there may be some procedural generation at play. If the whole game is like this it's like one big tech demo.
Need to get back to the story mode to see if there's more to it.
Visuals are really good. The music is very similar to the wii games (midi keyboard) but has no voiced operatic music.
It feels unlikely the rpg like second game or the experience led piece of art the first game was. It's still nice and relaxing.
Ugh the way the media has reported on the Switch 2 specs news from the Moores law is dead podcast is terrible.
It was actually pretty good news, the system is looking to have 4 (modern) teraflops so will be PS4 Pro ++ level docked. He also said the docked clocked were going to be higher than you expect. Portable they're probably going to rely on DLSS and why wouldn't they? A 1080p screen, DLSS can upscale from 720p to 1440p no problem. It makes sense to save on battery life. They also said even with lower portable clocks, it's going to be multiple times faster than the clocks switch 1 ran at.
It's pretty good news and I'm eagerly awaiting Backwards Compatibility if it can make all my switch 1 games run at 1080p handheld with no dynamic resolution.
And boost docked resolution of switch games. You can really tell in Mudrunner and Snowrunner when it's high and when it's low.
Yeah, I’m pretty satisfied with the rumoured specs for the Switch 2 as well. Just give me that full backwards compatibility and I’ll be good to go.
