Fast price drops are good for consumers. I'm surprised it's a thing considering how anti-consumer the gaming industry usually is.
I don't buy many full priced games anymore not only because of the quick price drops, but because most games are released unfinished and buggy. I'm not paying for the privilege of bug testing your game. I can wait until it's actually finished to play it.
I think that the Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 collection is a bit too much. Excellent games though and I’ll still buy them at launch.
As for games getting quick price cuts hurting the game industry, I don’t really see that to be honest. The game industry seems to be making more money then ever and a lot of games sell incredibly well out of the gate. Especially from companies like Capcom and Nintendo. Hell I’d be willing to bet that the games that sell the most tend to get the fewest and least drastic price cuts.
