It certainly is. Just finished the main story and wow, fantastic stuff. The freedom they give you to tune your characters and party is incredible. Still have some optional things to do and make a different ending choice. Easily my GotY so far.
Congrats Duder.
I'm glad you got some value from it. I picked up a physical copy of it for around $25, thinking I had found a great sale. But really that's all it demands in the market at the moment. If you find it for a price in the single digits, it might be worth picking up. I can't deny that artistically the game does have a lot going for it.
Going back to a one tv setup will feel incredibly limiting to my play style.
The T239 design was "taped out" in 2021, they could have released it in 2022, 2023 or even last year.
But the commercial success of Switch 1 meant they sat on it.
They should have had two target hardware designs in play, one for a sooner release and one more primed for a later release that could take advantage of more recent technology.
Still it's $450 now, God knows how much more a more powerful version would cost and what it's battery life would be.
Saw a video on it, haven't read it yet.
2 CPU cores are reserved for the OS and 3gb of RAM.
It looks like it has the same OS as Switch 1, so is it gamechat that needs that much RAM?
Since that camera is optional will more resources be used by developers when gamechat is not being used?
Also there seems to be a lot of headroom in clock speeds for the CPU and GPU.
The documentation shows a theoretical max of 1.7ghz for the cpu cores, but it's only being used at around 1 ghz.
Will it be raised with further updates?
Same for the gpu which is clocked at around 1 ghz but has a theoretical max of 1.4 ghz.
One thing about Nintendo I don't like, this goes for switch 1 too, they tend to take stock or similar hardware and don't run it at its full potential. They took the X1 Nvidia Shield and downclocked it all around. I guess because of thermals and battery life.
If t239 is based on t234 they gutted out a lot of shader cores.
I hope there's a plugged in offscreen mode that runs off the chain.
Congrats!
Man, I'd love to build an uber gaming PC but those prices remind me why I'm still primarily a console gamer. Also, I get really OCD with all the graphics options and fiddle with them more than playing, lol
I don't get this 3gb RAM reserved for Gamechat. I'm not using that damn camera so would my games have access to more resources, compared to someone streaming video to someone else?
3GB for video chat? That's nuts.
It's a prequel so it has to have simplified gameplay.
It look fun but repetitive. It reminds me of the Serious Sam games.
It didn't seem like that much of a departure to me. Sora learned to comb his hair.
That shot of Mickey Mouse on the chandeliers looked cool. I don't have an opinion beyond that, though, since I've never played that series
Nice to finally start seeing some Kingdom Hearts 4 stuff. Hopefully we’ll start seeing some trailers and the game isn’t too far away now. Really enjoyed the previous games so am looking forward to this new one.
Mickey does look great. But I think they're making Sora too human looking now. In the first games he was cartoony and exaggerated looking, and while they did take a step in that direction for KH3, he still kept that overall look.
In typical Nintendo fashion they didn't give specific framerate or resolution numbers.
But all games seem to have resolution improvements, presumably 1440p or 4k?
And alot of the games get framerate improvements too. As well as HDR support.
And gameshare is being added to multiple titles.
I'm personally most interested in Mario Odyssey. Portable it was too soft and with hdr should look great.
Also the enhancements to ARMS should spark a second wind. I think it was already 1080p 60fps so it will now be higher with HDR and apparently the framerate won't be halved with multiple players now.
I know most people ignored this game, but played with a controller grip or pro controller it's great.
I was reading that Red Dead Redemption 2 sold 74 million copies. It sold four million copies this year, more than the latest Assassin's Creed. Crazy numbers.
But I don't want serious Sam lol
GG Doom still has good level design. Yeah some levels are way more spread out but there are plenty of nooks and crannies with secrets to make it feel fun. The large flat levels serve to put loads of enemies on screen which is where the serious Sam comparisons come in.
I've played it for a couple hours so far tonight. It has Quake, Painkiller and Serious Sam DNA for sure. It's a LOT of fun. Finally, 90s PC FPS' return!
