Switch 2 version of the Dragon Quest 7 reimagined is excellent.

It's 60fps and though I cant count pixels it looks 4k and the textures are very crisp too. Game feels very nostalgic, for fans.

For me playing an old game like this it feels a bit simplistic to me, so I'll stick with Octopath for the time being.

Pssssj, I played the Metroid Prime Remake with original GC controls enabled.

Crazy. Although I played with gyro only when locked on or aiming. I learned too late how to enable totally awesome wii controls.

I used those for prime 4. I've worked out through playing various games, you don't need a gyro centre reset button. You just enable use of the right stick plus motion aiming. You naturally center the screen with the stick as you turn.

So by the time one has bought a Switch 2, a pro controller, a memory card and a game they are looking at 1000 euro/bucks spent? Seems very expensive to me.

I chose MK World as my bundled game and it was only £30.

You can also get Cyberpunk and Star Wars Outlaws for £30 to £35

I don't bother with a pro controller. You can get s 256gb card for £40 but I haven't bothered yet.

Nintendo's big FU for me was not letting me use my old micro sd cards for Switch 1 games.

I have seen the error of my ways. Hope there is still time for me to invest in some Wii2 stock!

I finally slept two full nights in my bed instead of the recliner. I'm feeling better overall but still sick. We got 6 inches of snow last night, so I cleared a small path in the backyard for my dog. My lungs literaly told me in their language of pain, "STOP YOU FOOL!"

Fuck the flu.

I stopped and called out of work today. There's no way I could dig out my car. Stupid dog sniffed the area I cleared a couple of times, then jumped in the deep snow to pee. Hrm

You guys pondering any vacations this year?

I'm probably heading back to Penang. Taking the nephew to Asia for the first time.

I have never been to Asia. I would like to. Believe it or not what happened to you on your India trip many years ago has affected many of my decisions for travelling destinations.

My winter holiday was in Tenerife. Other than flying in to the south airport, I spent the entire time in the north of the island. It is truly incredible, particularly if you like geology and hiking like me. The only disappointment was that I was not able to summit El Teide (my primary reason for wanting to go there) because they weren't allowing people up due to the weather (too windy for the cable car). You will need to get a rental car as the public buses are very infrequent and you will need to drive quite a bit to see most of the great places. If it wasn't such hard work (and so expensive) to get to and fro I would consider going back.

I'm going to NYC once spring rolls around. It's been ages since I've been to New York any other time than Christmas, so I'm looking forward to seeing Central Park in bloom.

And then later this year, my wife and I are going to start visiting a couple different cities across the country. Try to pin down where we're going to move once we are ready to get out of Florida for good.

I'm hoping to make it to Chicago this year but nothing is set in stone yet. We planned a trip to England and Paris. However, I put in new AC/heating inits that wiped that out. Hopefully, next spring.

I started considering getting a new handheld gaming console. Not considering Switch 2 at this point. Mostly thinking in terms of a Steamdeck or an Android handheld. Mostly for playing indie/PC lite games. Have any of you guys been into this at all?

Anyone else interested in the Terminator 2D game? It looks like a cool arcade experience. Too bad it's $30.

A couple years ago I got into the lower and mid range systems. I had a Retroid Pocket 4, and it was a good system for playing any system up through the PS2 and GameCube. It also worked really well with Android games. Stardew valley played like a gem on it. I also picked up a Miyoo Mini, which was basically a Game Boy SP. The sound chip on that thing wasn't particularly good, but the form factor was great.

But I always balked at jumping to the Steamdeck, Odin, or any of the higher end Android handhelds. I still primarily like to play on a console or anything with a large screen, and those systems usually start and over $400. At that point, the portability wasn't quite worth the price.

Valve is no longer selling the $400 Steamdeck, so unless you go pre-owened, it's $550 minium.
