WoW just saw a significant increase in the active user base for the first time in many years. For reasons I'm not entirely sure about, it's actually starting to heat up again.

It's weird when this happens, but it's definitely not unheard of. Roblox was around for 8 years or so before people started to really get popular. Minecraft has gone up and down in popularity several times. So if WoW can figure out why it's getting popular again, this would definitely be the time to send it to consoles.

Why not? I think it would be a smart move at this point:

Blizzard ‘still talks’ about a console version of WOW“Of course we still talk about it. "videogame

I was reflecting about how much has changed since WoW was at it's peak.  There were many, many limits to consoles as to why WoW would not work on those formats back then, but these days taht's all gone.  I think it'd be worth the endeavor for them, it's something they could carry forward into the next gen of consoles.  I never (ignorantly) tried WoW, but if it were on Switch today I'd buy it and give it a try.

Apparently the Fallou TV series on Amazon is ok to good?  Anyone seen it (I'm still behind on Shogun).

I just watched the first episode of fallout last night. I liked it. It didn't blow me away, but I enjoyed it enough to watch the next episode tonight. I think I've played about 30 minutes of fallout 4, but that's more or less my full experience with the series, so I'm going into it knowing little more than the general premise and the vault boy character.

Yeah, been hearing pretty good things about it. Not subscribed to Amazon so I’ll probably just wait for it to hit blu-ray and pick that up instead.

I heard it was good, but when it breaks through to my wife's world you know it's broken wide open.  After I posted that later last night she said, "Oh the girls at the office were talking, they've made a tv series out of one of your video games... somethign... starts with an "A"?

Me: Fallout?

Her: That's it Fallout.

Me: So a bunch of old office women like a series about Fallout?

Her: No the yonger ones were going on about it.

Why would Octoath Traveller be de-listed from E-shop and then brought back a month later???

Inappropriate content in the original? Song licensing issue?  Weird...

I saw an article saying it was because Nintendo was the OG publisher but now rights have gone back to Square Enix.

But the developer Acquire was bought by a different company shortly before it was delisted.

Prime lists it as its number one ranked show which is all well and good, but I think a bigger indicator of its success is that Google has it ranked as the most searched TV show right now. So clearly there is a lot of interest in it. I suspect this will end up being Prime's biggest TV series, more so than their Lord of the rings prequel.

Snowrunners really good so far.

It's like GTA except you drive about fixing things and recovering cargo and trucks. It's a fairly massive leap over Mudrunner, they went all out with this. I suspect I'll be playing this for a while, given 4 years of dlc on top.

I have a nostalgia for Mudrunner though, it seems simplistic vs Snowrunner but that was part of its charm, the way it just dropped you into the wilderness and let you figure it out.

As for Saber Interactive, I've become a bit of fan of their ports. I believe this is their own developed game, but they've done The excellent Crysis 2 and 3 remastered Switch ports as well as Mud and Snowrunner. And even The Witcher 3 switch version. I put off buying Witcher 3 as it always looked too blurry, but I didn't realise they released a patch 4 years enabling sharpening and the ability to switch off AA.

If I use Mclassic on top of that it should look decent, if Mud and Snowrunner are any indication. Saber is the open world equivalent of Panic Button in terms of Switch ports.

Aspro, just listened to the new GU podcast. I noticed you're using a new streaming platform and for me the quality seems worse. I always listen while driving and a lot of words got chopped off, probably due to bandwith issues. Never had that happen before though.

Yeah truly sorry about that. It was limited to the last show as I was at the holiday house with bad bandwidth using linux laptop, won't happen again. Recording next show on Monday in usual setup.

I watched the first episode last night and it was good, not like great, but I'll stick with it.  I realise now I am of the age where I see an old actor like Kyle Mcloughlin (or whatever his name is from Twin Peaks) and go "Ah that's that guy from that show 30 years ago" which is what my parents and aunts and uncles did when watching Airplane and similar movies.  Getting old sucks.

That's basically how I feel about the show after three episodes. It's good. Good enough to keep watching, but not so good that I feel compulsed to immediately watch another episode after I finish one.

I've been lurking a lot lately. Work is taking its toll and I just don't feel motivated to post because I'm mentally checked out when I get home.  I'm hoping that will change soon.

Okay, quick update on the Fallout TV show. Episode 4 is the game changer apparently. Once episode 4 hits it goes from a good show to "I need to watch the episode and find out what happens now!"
