So I've been playing Phantasy Star 1 (SMS) on Switch during my hour lunch at work the past two days. This is the Sega Ages version with the auto-map and reduced random encounters.

I'm going to chip away at it during lunch for a long while, I think. It's about 15-20 hours long and I've always wanted to complete it, since it's the first RPG I'd ever attempted.

Wait what, "since it's the first RPG I'd ever attempted."?

For the record I beat it on SMS and the second and third on GBA.  Please clap.

Randy Pitchford keeps Take 2's PR people in active employment with this tone deaf statement (someone delete his social media accounts!)

Worried the impending arrival of $80 games might price you out of your favourite hobby? Well if Borderlands 4 follows suit, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has suggested the community should just suck it up and deal with it. "If you're a real fan," he recently told a potential purchaser, "you'll find a way to make it happen."

I think games are in a bad spot. The tariffs are bad enough, inflation for everything in general is shocking. I went to pay for a burger the other day and it was 40% more than it had been for years.

Because of my work costs and rising insurance I had to raise my prices too, or face a pay cut.

Death Stranding director on the jump from ps4 to ps5

"The most obvious improvement from a technological point of view is the reduction in loading times, but to be honest, the difference between the two hardware systems isn't so great," he says. "It's more a case that on PS5 there are more efficient ways of arriving at similar goals."

Wut?

So I'm kind of feeling like an idiot this morning. When I bought my PS5 last month it was the Astrobot bundle, and when I saw that Astrobot's playroom was already installed, I figured, "oh okay, that's the game they included". And while it was technically just a tech demo, it was an absolute goddamn delight so I was thrilled to have it.

Fast forward to this morning as I am finally getting around to throwing out the PS5 box. I did one last sweep inside to make sure there wasn't any warranty information that I should keep, and then I found it. A small quarter sheet of paper with a download code for the actual Astrobot game. I was about 5 ft away from the garbage can when I made the discovery, so I'm happy, but I'm also kind of cringing and shaking my head at myself.

And on a related observation, when I went to scratch off the download code, it took me about 5 minutes to find a coin in this house. Gone are the days when I can just open up a junk drawer or stick my hand in the couch to find a penny or quarter or whatever. Money is a changing.

Yes.  Due to inflation money is shrining not only in value, but also in physical size, making coins much harder to find.
