Saw this on Neogaf:

[According to the poll from a year and a half ago, 44% here have PlayStation as their main platform followed by 36% PC and Xbox at 14%. Only 6% here have a Nintendo as their main platform.]

Mildy interesting trivia.

Nintendo has been my main platform for the following gens: SNES, Gamecube, Switch.  In each of those gens they had better tech or in the case of the switch a USP - portability and docking.  In those three gens if a game was multiplat I'd get it on Nintendo's format. Gamecube was markedly better than PS2 graphically. At the same time I did go with Xbox as it was also on par with the gamecube, and in some cases better.

In fairness I was PC/Wii for a long period too, but there were so many third party games on PS3 and 360 that were not on the Wii that waned pretty quick.

I've really grown accustomed to playing portable.  It's just so convenient.  I don't even use the dock anymore when the telly is free.  It's come to a point where I'm debating on getting a Series S to play some games that don't seem to be coming to Switch2, but I'm hesitant to do so because I probably won't play much as I can't be bothered with gaming on the big screen anymore.

I had to think about it for myself, and was kinda surprised that I only consider the Wii as my main gaming platform from Nintendo for most of that generation. My main gaming platforms for each gen: Atari 7800, Genesis, Saturn, Xbox (Gamecube was really close, though), Wii, PS3, PS4 and PS5.

Let's see... In the NES, SNES, Wii and Wii U (while it lasted) Nintendo was my main platform. Post-Switch though, I don't really see myself going back to their systems as a primary, and maybe not at all.

Nintendo was my primary all the way to the Wii. During the Wii U era, the PS4 was my primary console. I guess the Switch was also my main console so every one of Nintendo's consoles except Wii U.

So I've been playing Phantasy Star 1 (SMS) on Switch during my hour lunch at work the past two days. This is the Sega Ages version with the auto-map and reduced random encounters.

I'm going to chip away at it during lunch for a long while, I think. It's about 15-20 hours long and I've always wanted to complete it, since it's the first RPG I'd ever attempted.

I've always wanted to give the Phantasy Star games a go, but I think without the benefit of nostalgia they're just too old for me to enjoy at this point. The few times I've tried I've given up pretty quickly. That said if a new PSO game out, I'd jump on that.

Yeah, nostalgia is a hell of a drug. Most of the challenge was grinding and not having an auto map in the dungeons. Both of those issues are vastly improved now thankfully. otherwise, I wouldn't attempt it.

I've officially rounded the 120 hour mark in Tetris99 which I believe makes this my most played game of the generation.  Maybe Splatoon3 tops it, but I doubt it.  I've played 1273 games, which equates to a game lasting me 5 and a half minutes on average and I've won 37 times or 3%.

I've noticed that for some reason competition has been more fierce over the last month or so, with more lines being sent my way in quick succession.  Or it could also just be that I've not been at the top of my game as I've been feeling a bit down in general.

That's great. It's the only thing I miss about NSO -- other than Splatoon, but I was not putting enough time into it to be much good or justify the sub.  That's great man.

The remakes have quality of life improvements. Do your own research but I've heard good things about them that value your time.

Randy Pitchford keeps Take 2's PR people in active employment with this tone deaf statement (someone delete his social media accounts!)

Worried the impending arrival of $80 games might price you out of your favourite hobby? Well if Borderlands 4 follows suit, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has suggested the community should just suck it up and deal with it. "If you're a real fan," he recently told a potential purchaser, "you'll find a way to make it happen."

76.  I can't decide if that's considered a good age to go these days or not.  Seems like people in their 70's are still very active now.

What do you guys feel is a good age to go. At what point does 'he was still in his prime' becomes 'he had a good life'?

I think if you are into your late 80's you get the "he had a good life" territory.  My dear mother died prematurely at 80 of cancer, other than that loathesome disease I would not have been surpised if she made it to 115 as she was as active as I am and healthy.

I've always suspected I'd be lucky to get to 83.

Anything with a 7 in front of it seems "too young" to me.

Wait what, "since it's the first RPG I'd ever attempted."?

For the record I beat it on SMS and the second and third on GBA.  Please clap.
