PC upgrades were a saga. Got a defective motherboard where only one slot was fully working, so that took me 6 hours of trying things until I concluded it was borked.
Bought a different board while I go through a return on the first. That got me right past the RAM problem, but it was shutting down every time I tried to configure DKMS for Nvidia drivers. Turns out it was tripping a power threshold. Put another 4 hours down for that.
Next day grabbed a new PSU, got the Nvidia drivers fixed, and now everything's running smoothly.
Except Baldur's Gate 3, which was really chopping until I turned off VSync. Then it's buttery.
Ah, the fun of PC upgrades. I've been fortunate in not receiving any defective parts so far. One of my biggest concerns.
I just watched Nvidia show their new cards, i'll be getting one, not the super one. The PC i built has worked great so here is hoping it stays that way. Still PC gaming in general is so fickle, weird shit happens all the time.

Well ended up in the ER for back pain now one of my legs went numb for 4 hours so far.
Yikes, definetly have a pinched nerve. Hopefully its not something that will require surgery. Back pain is the worst.
For hidden weapons and stuff that's fine. But they actually hide things you need to progress the level. Once you've cleared out all the enemies it feels like a big escape room game.
90s PC level design, how I will never miss you. I have no clue what they were doing back then but me coming from a Nintendo focused background to those PC games like that one, or the Star Wars games, I have no idea where they learned to make levels.
So Switch 2 next week? Or later this week? the controller is leaked, everything is leaked. There is nothing left, show the damn thing aready.
Has anyone here played the Plucky Squire? It looks superb. It's available on Switch, but I fear that the humble handheld won't do it's visual style justice and it hasn't released on Xbox One.
It has recieved mixed reviews. Too hand holdy and too much repetition is the main complaint. I'll check it out when it goes on sale.

Dr. Vader us in the house. Yep, most likely from what I've read. Had the scan today and waiting for Doctor to review and call. Thanks to all for well wishes. An update:
- ER could not see me after 4 hours and I was in so much pain I had to leave. Travelled 2 hours to the next closest ER this morning through level 10 pain and had a great experience - saw doctor in ten minutes. Bottom line, I cannot sit for more than 2 minutes without insane pain. Leg is still numb. They think I won;t be able to run, lift or sit for 8 weeks, but waiting for final verdict on that. They at least gave me the good drugs, so back pain is releived as long as that lasts, but my leg is still a peice of Blu-Tak gettig jammed all over the place because I cannot feel anything Now I have to figure out how to use Steamdeck standing.
Also have to figure out how to not get additional injuries from standing all the time,

Probably not a huge deal for most parts. But an unknowingly defective motherboard is pain.
If custom PC builds were not a pain we would not get the satisfaction out of it.
The anger, adrenalin, dissapointment, panic, soft realisation that we may have been the problem, recovery then joy -- it's like Kubler-Ross' seven stages of loss. Actually, looking at that, that summarizes all relationship breakups I've gone through!

Switch version reviewed pretty well. Try the switchup video review.

Holy shit man.
You need to sleep like full grown elephants. They shove themselves in between a V shaped tree to prop them up as they sleep.
Second thing, I was playing Doom 2016 on a 1080p tv last night and it looked pretty great. Usually you can't beat the small OLED screen or 2k on the big tv with Mclassic.
I got 2 new rifles.
I put off buying this game for so long because I thought it looked too blurry and I'd rather play it on a more powerful system. But a few minutes in and those thoughts melt away, it's smooth, the motion controls are great and it looks pretty great, albeit with a softer image quality compared to Crysis 2 remastered or Metroid Prime remastered.
Lights dynamically cast on the environment, materials look great, there are surface reflections everywhere and my favourite thing is mist.and steam hanging in the air. Very atmospheric.
How are you supposed to use the chainsaw? I've been shooting, then running in to finish with the chainsaw. Does anyone just run in with a chainsaw?
There are times when Doom 2016 reveals how shallow it is.
Usually in a square or rectangular room it locks you in. You can basically keep running in a circle, or square shape around the whole area. As long as you don't stop you rarely get hit and can run up to and point blank kill enemies.
Other fps would punish you for blindly running about.

Did you guys see all the Switch 2 leaks? The accessory manufacturers have gone wild.
Also if you watch Nvidia dlss 4 presentation they are back porting it to older series cards, so it looks like Switch 2 will benefit.
Some features are different but ray reconstruction and better image quality on dlss 3 is confirmed.
Also Brainchild on Famiboards, you may remember him as a developer from GAF, Nintendo certified had some interesting info I'll summarise after breakfast
I don't think I can do justice to what Brainchild wrote about dlss on Switch 2, so check the video.
You can fast forward to the time stamped info.
He's saying there is unreleased information on how it runs on Switch 2 in a closed environment, that he has seen but wont leak. So there's very little (cost) to using it on the platform.
I was actually watching dlss 2.0 videos from Digital Foundry last night. The AI upscaled image at both 1080p and 4k actually looked better than native.
They even rendered at 540p, used dlss to get to 1080p, not only did the framerate massively increase but the image quality was better than native 1080p.
They also did 1080p rendered and output to 4k with the same result.
What can they do in Minecraft 2 that will actually make it feel like a sequel?

Notch is delusional if he think MS would let him get within 100 metres of Minecraft. He'll make his own Craftmine and it will either reveal his genius or be a emporer has no clothes situation. Aspro, hoping you get relief soon.
Has anyone tried Huntdown yet?

Thats my kind of FPS, GG.
Another Switch 2 dick pic...since when has this been a thing? Oh wait..
Have a look at Project Warlock on Switch.
