Played Slay the Spire, Suika Game and some RE4. Bummed that I have just a regular old release of RE4, it has not been remastered in any way, which is fine, but I was expecting a re-master not a re-release (I should have paid more attention).

My daughter became engaged with the Switch this weekend and is playing some fairly complicated games for a new gamer (she beat some Paw Patrol games when she was 4 then went off gaming until Suika Game has drawn her back in and now she's bouncing between Suika Game, Mario Kart 8, Princess Peach demo and anything else she thinks looks interesting.(including Mario 64, which she liked).  She identified Mario Sunshine as "not very good".

Like myself, she found Minecraft incomprehensible (I could not figure out how to even get past the start screen, now they want you to login or something).

So as far as my weekend, I got a colonoscopy on Friday.

Yeah, not for me. It's already impossible to see a doctor even if I was dying.

Which is an excuse as even if doctors were falling out of the trees, I barely tolerate the barber touching my head, would never consider a massage or chiropractor and would rather die of cancer than let a doctor see any more of me other than taking my shirt off. Which is a horrible attitude, which I apologize for. I've had a lot of family die of cancer which is ... beyond words.

Paper Mario is a great series, up to and including the last one on Switch. Very charming, and enjoyable combat hooks.

Just beat the final boss in Octopath traveller 2.

Was easier than I thought. Once I split my team up with a healer on each, as soon as I could get past the first round, I had access to Ochette.

Used high power attacks that hit multiple weak points at once. Destroyed that evil asshole.

Great game overall, even more so than the excellent original. Enjoying the credits right now.

Cool how long was it? Do you know what that same dev team is working on now?

I spent 138 hrs in the world to do everything. I could put in another 5 hours just to tweak my team for max damage output.

I did spend a bit levelling up high to beat the boss. Probably overdid it.

My son bought the Splatoon3 DLC.  The Tower of Order should be to Splatoon3 what the Octo expansion was to Splatoon2, but I'm not convinced.  It has a roguelite like setup where you ascend a 30 storey tower floor by floor, beating a challenge level on each floor.  You die, you start again at the bottom.  On each playthrough you can buy upgrades to make you last longer, even extra lives.  there are a handful of different types of objectives, but things get repetitive fast.  Regardless of the objective, there'll be these hordes of enemies spawning that'll try to swarm you on each level, resulting in most levels becoming a matter of crowd control.  There are only a handfull of bosses and while they're not half bad they get cycled through as well.

I'm sure the devs thought it'd be 'fresh' to go with the current industry trends and infuse the roguelite element, but I'd much rather have carefully designed challenges like those from the Octo expansion.  I managed to get to the final boss on my second try as well.  I didn't manage to beat him, but I can see myself being done with this very fast.

Can it be played offline? I haven't had a switch online account for ages.

So I've been playing Eastward Octopia.

It's DLC but I hear you can get it without the main game.

It's Animal Crossing/Harvest Moon in the Eastward world. Really enjoying this twist.

It takes a few cues from Animal Crossing. I've now got a barn, chicken coop, several fields, a cellar, a bath house etc.

I've upgraded everything. There's a swamp and beach for gathering, a train station where visitors arrive. There's cooking. Lovely pixel art.

Yeah, it's single player.  I played it just yesterday in airplane mode to preserve battery.

Luigi's Mansion 4 Rumor Says Game Is Twice the Size of Previous Games and Has 'Mind-Blowing Visuals"

Luigi's Mansion 4 has yet to be announced by Nintendo, yet another rumor has surfaced online about the game, which according to said rumor, is set to be a Nintendo Switch 2 game. It is claimed that right now the plan is to release the game in the first half of 2026, potentially alongside a Luigi movie. Of course, these plans could change, but if they come to fruition, this will be a year after the next Nintendo console, rumored to be a successor to the Nintendo Switch 2, is supposedly coming out. And if the rumor is accurate, and the game is ambitious as it is claimed, there is a good chance it couldn't even run on the current Nintendo Switch.

The new rumor comes the way of well-known Nintendo source, Zippo. It is claimed by the insider this will be Next Level Games' debut on the Nintendo Switch 2. Adding to this, it is claimed it will be an ambitious debut. More specifically, Zippo says this will "easily" be the most expensive and biggest game the studio has ever made. To put this into context, the size of Luigi's Mansion 3 is cited as being half the size of this new game. Meanwhile, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is also cited. As you may know, this is one of the best-looking game son PS5, yet Luigi's Mansion 4 apparently looks better.

"

I'm also hearing that Next Level Games' Switch 2 debut, Luigi's Mansion 4, Is set to release in the first half of 2026," claims Zippo. "The game is sounding incredibly ambitious, and this is easily the biggest and most expensive game Next Level has ever made. Expect absolutely mind-blowing visuals, animation and a game that is TWICE the size of Luigi's Mansion 3. Thought Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart looked good? This blows it out of the water. That's a guarantee."

As you may know, Luigi's Mansion 3 sold quite well, but not well enough to justify what sounds like a very ambitious project by the standards of the series. And this is where the aforementioned Luigi movie comes into play, as Zippo also claims the newly-announced Super Mario Bros. movie releasing on April 3, 2026 is a spin-off. It is floated it could be a spin-off starring Luigi in a Luigi's Mansion-style movie. If this is he case, it would make sense why Nintendo would want to go big with the next Luigi game.

All of that said, remember to take everything here with a grain of salt. Right now, all we have are rumors. None of this is official information, and even if it is accurate, it doesn't mean it will remain so over time. As for the source, like most industry insiders and leakers, Zippo has proven reliable in the past, but they have also been off the mark in the past as well.

Saying it'll out-graphic Ratchet and Clank is a big claim to make.  But LM games have always been visual stunners, so there's no doubt a new one would look great as well.  As for the length, I hope that's not true.  I found LM3 to be a bit overlong already.

I really loved the game so bled out every single side quest and cave. Also spent another 10 hours just levelling. I think 80hrs is a more realistic playtime. Its so easy to play offscreen, it never feels like a chore to play.

I find games like this where I can have the TV on in the background, are the easiest to put in the hours for on Switch.

I think Zippos talking out his backside. But I do prefer the animation in LM3 to what I've seen of a Rift apart.

When I ran LM3 in 2k through the Mclassic it actually did look pretty amazing. Metroid Prime remastered too.

Some disturbing rumor, a youtube poll has appeared floating the name of Switch Attach. Anyone remember the weird patent where it looked like they attached a screen to another screen? Hope this isn't the gimmick.

How many people will need a spare screen to give to a friend for local multiplayer?

I remember the NES having some kind of port in the bottom middle of the system. Don’t think they ever utilized it for anything. Kind of wish we got that disk drive add on for the N64.
