I was shocked that my little city upgraded years ago, way ahead of anyone else.

Nice!

They've been working on it for my city since last fall. Not sure when it goes active but I'll be keeping an eye on it. They dug up my yard yesterday. Same with everyone on my street.

Gg, have you ever owned an iPhone? I was curious of your opinion about them.

No, my brothers a big iPhone user.always seemed overpriced compared to other options and the screens were always too small.

Being unfamiliar with macs kept me away. Now I find Microsoft apps and hardware outdated or unintuitive (non gaming devices).

Guess I'm fully rooted with Google for the time being.

Trying to buy ms word for a fair price, trying buggy free alternatives. Then finding out you can use free Web based Google docs with automatic cloud saves was a godsend.

I am on the road thus on the internet for the first time since last time.

I am researching use of the Playstation Classic (mini) as an emulator for PS1. This would be of interest to me as all my playstation 1's are on US voltage, so it would be convenient to put my library on an australian-powered device.

Apparently, there's a way to play GameCube disks on a modded Wii U. Think I'm going look into that.

Hey hey, I'm trying to get through this Playstation Classic project. Don't go distracting me!

Seems straightforward. https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/play-gamecube-games-wii-u-nintendont/

I did not realise that not all Wii's were not backward compatible with gamecube, just the early models.

Guys I randomly was scrolling through the eshop Sales and my icon hovered over this game Off the road Unleashed.

The switch started scrolling through some screens on the thumbnail. I clicked it, it didn't look bad, but it has a demo.

I was fully expecting this game to be trash but it completely defied my expectations.

For a start visually it's probably up there with the best looking switch games played offscreen.

It's a sandbox environment, and has a full physics system and destructible vehicles.

The cars get dirty and dented and can flip over. You drive about this island but also can leave the car in first person. You gather parts and resources to fulfill missions like building a bridge.

You can attach a trailer to the back of your truck, think TOTK horse and carriage but you're driving here.

The terrain affects your driving and it's very satisfying to overcome the environment.

It has arcade like controls and atmosphere. There are races, pathfinder missions.

And strangely there's no hand holding here, they drop you on the island and it's up to you to find your fun.

Apparently it's like a master version of a mobile game that was upscaled and reworked for the switch with all mobile like elements removed.

There's only one review on YouTube and they loved it. There's also a 28 minute playthrough video.

But definitely try the demo, it's also like mudrunner or snow runner, but less punishing.

It partly feels like GTA x Burnout Paradise but more focused on transporting things.

Oh also was surprised the game has this radar like TOTK that you have to follow to find some resources. I was wondering where the treasure was before I realised when looking through a window that I could somehow break into a building and grab what's inside.

Also you can driver things like speedboats, helicopters and there are 4 more islands.

Honestly feels great.

Also Dungeons of Dreadlocks is on sale for £1.79 and also has a demo.

Loved the demo, art style is delicious. Imagine Zelda SNES dungeons, with one screen rooms. Only each room is divided subtly into grids of squares. So you're moving from square to square to avoid traps and enemies.

There are things to head for like levers to set trap doors. Tiles you walk on that trigger traps. Enemies that follow you floor to floor like RE Nemesis.

Will be getting this.

So the Wii U cannot play GCN games from their disks, only backups. Bummer. I'll just leave the original Wii hooked up then.

This weekend I've been mostly playing Gran Turismo 7 and Mario Kart 8. I also played Stunt Race FX for a couple hours yesterday.

Tried RE8 but it's just not clicking with me. I'll try again later. Seems I'm more into racing games, ATM.

So I bought Off the road Unleashed for a few bucks.

Got home and played for two hours straight. Seriously addictive and fun. This game is pulling me away from Skyward sword.

It's like GTA only you're transporting materials to develop buildings and facilities. But there are also races and different vehicles and over the top stunts too.

I really appreciate the way you can get out your car and go inside buildings to hunt for collectibles. I went inside this warehouse, up the stairs, across a walkway, made my way up to the roof.

I discovered helicopters and boats to control, you have to unlock them with virtual currency. So the whole island is littered with "coins" to collect.

Your vehicle gets damaged and you have to get out the car and fix it. But you can only do it relating to the tools you have.

You can get out your car to manually refuel, literally grab a petrol pump walk up to the car and start filling.

But you can also fill petrol cans up and drop them in the back of the truck to use off-road. There's also toolboxes you can drop in the truck so you can manually repair the car on the move, not just at garages.

There are exploration flags to find. It's just a big sandbox to play around in and there are 4 or 5 other sandbox areas I haven't even got to yet.

Looking forward to trying the flying vehicles first.

You can develop a car parts shop with materials that give you spare parts. You can use these parts to fix abandoned vehicles scattered about.

One mission had me bringing food from a farm. It led me to a pumpkin and watermelon patch. So I drove over to collect them. Instead it crushed the produce lol.

So you have to get up and start hauling watermelons into the back of your truck one by one then lock the truck back up.

There's a really good physics engine behind everything, even the driving, if you get a log under your wheel you will know about it and all the terrain lumps and bumps have a real physical effect on controlling the vehicles.

But also there are like Havok physics or something for objects. Like theres a lot of stuff on foot you can pick up that does nothing, you can't collect it.

I thought it was all useless, until I noticed they strategically put coins in higher places your vehicles couldn't get to.

Then I realised I could stack boxes like TOTK with physics to jump up. Just when I was feeling clever I knocked a box against a wall and it broke apart with physics. Very clever, then I found a wheelie bin to use.

I love how the game doesn't hold your hand, you just explore.

Been playing F.I.S.T. Forged in Shadow Torch on the XSX. Pretty neat 2.5D Metroidvania game. Also returned to Spider-Man Remastered on the PS5 to play the dlc stuff.
