NintendoLife reviews Samus returns - 10/10
"This is far and away one of the best Metroid games ever made, and one of the best examples of the entire Metroidvania genre as a result"nintendolife.com impressions gamingeek
I did get a kick out of all the news reporters who feel that it's necessary to go out in the torrential wind and rain and try to give a report on the hurricane.
RIP Len Wein the father of Swamp Thing and Wolverine.
Len Wein died yesterday at the age of 69. He was a comic book writer and editor.
He co-created Swamp Thing, Human Target and Lucius Fox at DC. He was also the editor on Watchmen. At Marvel he co-created Wolverine when he was writing Hulk and co-created the New X-Men team in 1975 which introduced Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Banshee, Sunfire, and Thunderbird.
I would like to get a Shenmue Double Pack on PS4 because I never played them on the Dreamcast or Xbox.
I don't know about it being on the Xbox One the only reason is because Shenmue III isn't suppose to be on Xbox One it is only announced for PS4 and PC.
Dark souls 2 isn't as bad after getting used to the shit enemy placement and provided you forget any crazy ideas about DEX builds. Managed to get things rolling with a tank build and I'm kind of cruising now. This weekend I rolled through No Man's Wharf and most of lost bastille. I only found the 3 sentinels a bit of a bitch.
I loved Dark Souls 2. I have the remastered version and supposedly the enemy placement is very different to the original. Not sure which is better. There was a couple points in the game that pissed me off but nothing unusual for a Souls game. And I like how the whole world is connected to the main hub unlike in DS3 where you just magically teleport to new areas. The environments are brilliant and it seems like the DLC stuff for DS2 is even better, but I haven't checked that stuff out too much yet.
I always go for a tank build in these kinds of games...much easier to start off with. Give yourself some slight ability with a staff or bow for long range spots and you're all set.
The opening is fucking weird. I could not figure out that tutorial for the life of me...which is kind of counter intuitive for a tutorial. Then you get these almost graphic novel parts where you're "in training'...I wasn't sure there was even a game in here.
Now though, it seems the game is actually turning into a game. Could get really good. It better, with all the praise it gets as being better than Bioshock. It doesn't look too bad for an old ass game. You need to set the resolution as low as you can though. Otherwise you can't read the goddamn text. Hopefully they do a remake of this one day, after the remake of the original (which looks badass, by the way). I tried messing with the first game a bit, but I can't do it. It's too old and dated. Some games just don't age well.
One thing about these old PC games that I find funny, is how fucking overly complex and unintuitive the controls are. This is the reason that still to this day you have PC elitists claiming 'game x couldn't be done on a console you need the superior kb/mouse!!!" Ugh...no. The controls don't need to be this stupidly difficult. It's difficult just for the hell of it. Not user friendly or streamlined at all. Only in the past 10 years or so have controls gotten more streamlined. In fact that's probably the one area where things have improved the most in gaming over the last decade, even on consoles. Back in the day, every game made its own completely unique control setup. Which admitedly can be great sometimes, like with the MGS games. But most of the time its just unnecessary. We used to have to spend the first hour with each game that came out just trying to get used to the controls....Now, most games pretty much control the same & we can easily jump from game to game and just go. But PC games were much worse than consoles in this regard.
So that's what I did for the first hour playing this....get used to the controls. I also had to re-map about half of the commands because that 1999 setup just doesn't cut it. Again though...now that I'm done with that and I'm past the intro...seems like the game could get really good.
I'll post a video of that System Shock remake coming next year. Looks like a cross between Doom and Alien Isolation.

As far as I know, SotFS fixes some things but fucks up other stuff. That's what i'm playing because of the DLC. I really like how explorable the places are, filled with corridors and hidden rooms. Just did Lost Bastille. Besides poor enemy placement, my other complain is how lame and uninteresting most bosses have been, nothing impressive or breathtaking. Where is my Artorias equivalent in this game? I haven't found him yet.
Glad that you guys are all safe and sound.

Me too, like they couldn't just film it from a safe distance, inside a building. "Hey, look how brave we are to report this for you!"

No way José!
Trump always right all along! Build that wall to stop these damn Mexicans from invading!
Maybe Jose needs to hit D.C.?
R.I.P. Len Wein

I've started playing System Shock 2.

Nintendo fixing the mini stock situation, good to see.
Metroid reviews are out, has an 88 meta so far, great scores.
Okami coming to all but switch.
Well that's very cool of Nintendo in making more NES Classics. I want one. I also want the SNES Classic as well.
Awesome to see Okami making its way to current gen systems, will definitely buy again.
What a year for Nintendo. That Okami thing though. It makes me wonder if devs love to troll Nintendo. Who wouldn't want a portable Okami?
It's certainly way too long with you fighting the same boss three times. I still loved it though.
Metroid: Samus Returns got a 9 at GameSpot. Sweet. Looking forward to picking this up.
