I'm doing about as well in Snake Pass as you're doing in Yooka Laylee.
FFXII tomorrow! Wooo!
So im really enjoying Horizon. It reminds me of a cross between Witcher 3 with the combat and Rise of the Tomb Raider with the collecting. It's a good game but certainly not as fun as Zelda to me. I'm still hopelessly addicted to Uncharted 4's multiplayer.
After dying at the demonic looking hands Father Gascoigne (aka the second boss) for the brazillionth time I'm afraid Bloodborne is too difficult for me. And I've come to a bit of a harsh realization. Between the difficulty of this as well the problems I had fighting online against other players in Street Fighter V, I just don't have the reflexes and dexterity that I once did (not that they were terribly good in the first place). Looks like its time to go back to the land of strategy games and RPGs.
Awesome article here where other developers deconstruct ARMS
This may help you, it works for me sometimes even though it seems ridiculous. When I get stuck in a tough game with a ton of action or just some really intense boss fight....turn the volume off. Almost every time I do this I beat whatever it is in a few tries. For me, by turning the volume off it seems to focus your brain on just the visual aspect...the part that is actually giving you trouble. And it makes thing's easier because you're not being distracted by sound effects and music.

I have mine...time to once again enjoy some Vagrant Story-ish lovely visuals set to a Final Fantasy theme.
This is a Japanese train. Kind of like a child friendly version of those party buses with strip poles.
There you go online phobics, single player as good as a mainline Mario game.
They don't make cake ice-cream.
Hm...
All those years of therapy finally click into place.

I deleted my Splatoon 2 Splatfest save data and it lets you replay the tutorial as much as you like.
Holy heck, why isn't the single player in an environment like this? It's like an urban FPS environment. Put some enemies in there and it could be a great TPS single player campaign that's more traditional and satisfying.
Also allowed me to play around with the paint effects. It's a lot thicker and gloopier, it runs down walls and when you shoot it, the way it spreads at the edges is so satisfying. I didn't see the speckles which are apparently in the finished game.
Also it seems there is now a golf game style line showing you where your grenade will land when you hold the grenade button.
Also, the square looks pretty amazing offscreen. This is the third game after ARMS and Mario Kart 8 where I cannot see much difference between the Switch screen vs a 1080p tv. That screen is awesome and it's great that Nintendo are making them 60 FPS even offscreen.
Do We Need a Soulslike Genre? | Game Maker's Toolkit
This was interesting video. They talk about how a genre is created and what happens when a genre is defined by only one game (Roguelikes/Metroidvanias/Immersive Sims)
Roguelikes are defined by Rogue from the mid 1980s.
Metroidvanias first started as a term for Castlevania games that played like Super Metroid now it is any game that plays like Super Metroid so that whole genre is defined by Super Metroid.
Immersive Sims are defined by Deus Ex.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
Tomb Raider and Resident Evil pretty much started their own thing as well.
I had a torrid time in Splatoon today.
If only I could punch every Japanese level 50 that still cheats using a Splattershot jr and bubbleshield. Makes matches intolerable.
I end up, after much frustration, doing the same for revenge. Also the new sniper charge in Splat 2 is bullshit and it could potentially ruin the game with invisible one hit killers that pop out from nowhere and kill you in one shot.
Can't you filter the server so you only play people from the USA or Euro? That's strange so many Japanese play this....tell them to go back to their fucking smartphones.
Makes me think of Quake 3 on the Dreamcast back in the day....it was like every other person was from Brazil. So I asked one of them about it and he said DC was huge there because it was the only system they didn't get ripped off on.
We used to have Splatfests where we could play only with people from our region and you could notice that you did much better in those matches.
But for general everyday play you cannot filter out the Japs. I actually had a match last night that was hacked. On starting the whole map was uniformly covered in enemy ink and after you inked an area, one second later it blanked out to the opposing teams colour. Back at our spawnpoint my team was just jumping up and down endlessly so were probably in on it too.
It's probably just a bunch of guys at Nintendo who play Splatoon all day.
I've been looking at the Switch on Amazon regularly for about a month now...and it's really unbelievable.
The system itself seems to never be offered through Amazon themselves, only 3rd-party sellers. And the price never goes under $415, and can go as high as $430. The Pro pad is hardly ever in stock, but it is now...they raised the price from $65 to $69. The only other time I can remember like this was when the PS2 had first come out, and you could not get one anywhere...then when a local store did get them in they would charge you an extra $100 to get it. I ended up buying my PS2 off of a friend for the normal $300 price because he decided he wanted an XBOX instead.
But even the PS2 situation didn't last this long. This is ridiculous.
And it's really not just the Switch....it seems to be Nintendo in general getting worse with supply. They did it with the NES classic....they're doing it with the Snes Classic. They've always been shit when it comes to supply but over the past few years much much worse than ever before. Creating demand by NOT supplying.
