First of all no, the CPU is the biggest bottleneck. The GPUs are massively disbalanced in favour of them. Secondly, about a week ago there was a big famous developer who I have forgotten the name of, from a big famous 3rd party who was saying that the PS4K or half step console iterations in general were "a massive pain the ass." And that nobody in the development community wanted them.
And now we have more talk about developers not being happy.
Emily Rogers has confirmed with her sources close to Nintendo and actually quantified it. If NX is going to have more 1st party software in a single year then Wii U has had over its entire lifespan that is impressive. She said, this is no hyperbole or fan wishes. It is happening. End of.
Microsoft "testing a variety" of new Xbox One prototypes Sony have dubbed it "Agent Smith"
Also don't forget than Nintendo has unified their development pipeline. If you combine portable and home console 1st party games and they are all playable on the home console then you are going to have a significant increase in released software.
Well these upgrade consoles are good news for Nintendo...I mean if Sony and MS are going this route it likely means we aren't seeing a PS5 or Xbox 2600 anytime soon which means NX will be right on par with the competition. Unless Nintendo are retarded.
GAF:
More impressive than the Wii U's lineup over 3-4 years means its entire lineup. So here's a complete list of games Nintendo published for Wii U worldwide at retail:
2012
2013
2014
2015
2016
*Hyrule Warriors isn't published by Nintendo in Japan, Fatal Frame didn't get a retail release in North America, and Bayonetta / Star Fox Guard were pack in games, but I think they still belong on the list.
That's almost 40 games. Somehow I doubt NX's library can be more impressive than that in the span of a year.
I never thought of that. You have a sharp mind.
Yes, CPU is the bottleneck, but this is true for the original model as well. this has lead to games that look much better than last gen, but play the same as there isn't enough headroom for AI improvements and such due to limited CPU resources. So while it is the bottleneck, all PS4 games already work around it. All updates for the NEO mode will also be grahical in nature, so the CPU will be able to do fine with a much smaller boost in spec.
Meanwhile at Sony HQ, virtual Yoshida awaits "Agent Smith" news
"Where's Neo? What? He did some shitty samurai movie now? And has a millenial beard? For fucks sake."
Yes I agree.
What tech GAF are saying is that now the PS4K GPU is massively improved, but the CPU only being marginally overclocked - it's an even larger disparity between the CPU and GPU in the original PS4. It's more geared towards resolution and effects, shaders etc.
Performance, physics etc are more CPU related.
True, but both MS and Sony made it very from the start of this gen with the makeup of their systems that graphical improvement is their top priority. So nothing new here.
I try.
Star Fox Zero - Launch trailer
Check this out in 60 FPS via the cog. Actually looks great in motion, so smooth.
Doom download is a reasonable 45gb
I guess 'reasonable' is rather subjective...
The ps4 version of last of us was 55 gb.
I've seen Xbone bundles with download codes for 80Gb games. But that doesn't make 45Gb 'reasonable'.
Star Fox getting meh reviews as expected. Total pass from me.

Quoting myself bitches.
There are quite a few 3DS games that would be awesome to play on a home console like Zelda ALBW and Mario 3DLand, Luigis Mansion 2 etc. If the NX versions of portable games can have improvements like AA, textures, resolution and lighting they could be great at home to play. It would almost double Nintendo's 1st party output on a home console.
What other 3DS games could you think of that would be fun at home? We already have RE Revelations.
I might still get Star Fox Zero.
Nice to see Peter Jackson agrees with me. AR is the future.
Playing the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta and it's soooooooo good. I so can't wait for the game to come out.
Digital Foundry has an article about the 'rules' Sony put forth for PS4/Neo. Most strikingly, there must be feature parity between games, but features may be enhanced for the Neo model. The example given was that you can't have a game that has splitscreen multiplayer only on Neo, but you can have say 2-player split screen on the PS4 and 4 player splitscreen on the Neo.
