Fuck you, Reggie!
I think that's why I never really got into MK7 as much as previous Mario Kart games. I know I'm in the minority but I loved playing with the Wii Wheel. Same went for Sonic All Star Transformed. It was a blast to play with with the Wii Wheel. At any rate, that's the only way I plan on playing regardless if I lose a competitive edge for using it. I don't think that'll be the case though. Steering with Motion Plus should be awesome.
^ Sonic AST uses the Wii Wheel too? Hmm, I'll have to find a copy soon then.
I don't think you are in the minority. The wheel made that game so much more fun than any of the other Karts. We have the option of using the Wiimote and wheel right?
edit: just saw that you can
You're probably right about that. However the "hardcore" racing crowd doesn't seem to like it. Then again they didn't like Mario Kart Wii, so fuck them.
Heh, Hori is selling a red Wii Wheel for MK8. Not sure if it's official, but it looks exactly the same as Nintendo's.
As a Sega fan (or at least a Saturn fan) you'll love it. There's a Burning Rangers themed level that is just awesome. The online for the Wii U version was junk when I was playing it. Maybe that's been fixed... I really don't know. But the game is solid. My only real complaint were some of the "challenge" levels that you have to complete to unlock some new characters. There's a lot of those, "drive through the rings" stuff that I'm just never good at.
How official do you need a steering wheel to be? The only thing it does is hold the controller.
Burning Rangers! OMG! I haven't thought about that game in ages. I really miss that insane old-school Sega that would release some of the craziest games ever.
I'm gonna go without a wheel for now.
Many of the non-official wheels on Wii were just flimsy junk. Nintendo's wheel was solid, and had a good weight and balance to it.
You can use the Upad for motion controls as well. It probably won't be as comfortable was a wheel, but it's got to be more fun than using the sticks.
I just tried the motion controls on MK 7, but they only work when your kart is in cockpit view, which is just plain stupid.
I saw the demo yesterday as well and it kind of pissed me off because it made me think of how slack NoA has been with the demo stations. At my Gamestop, they've had the same demo since the U launched until now. Just seems like Nintendo missed so many opportunities to get people hyped for their games.
^ That's odd. My Gamestop, Walmart and Best Buy update their Nintendo demo stations fairly regular, at least with each new big game release.
