Asahi Digital reported the quote, but it seems Iwata didn’t share anything extra about the kids demographic. However, the site does also include a separate remark in which Iwata said he’s “thinking on how to make the company stand up again”.

They don't? In the US they always have to list the side-effects in the commercials so they don't get sued by customer or family member of a customer that had those side-effects.

idea: a way to get more games on nint home consoles, make it able to, out of the box play all the handheld games too. imagine if i could play all 3ds games only with graphical tweaks on u with a unified os and a cart slot. like the gc gba player but not an add on and with better display options, graphical enhancements when displayed on u? u could double the library and make droughts more bearable too.
ALBWorlds and Luigis mansion 2 running off a 3ds cart only displayed in high res @ better framerate etc on your hdtv.
for the next console/handheld i mean. All nins studios games playable on one platform.
