That's just horrible .

If I end up buying this, and now that I own a 3DS chances of that happening are high, it would hamper my enjoyment of the game.  Seriously, how can you fully enjoy something, knowing that by buying it, you're funding research into a part of the industry that is held back by inferior controls and overmonetarization?

We're pretty hardcore sony buyers here, especially at launch. Bear in mind that before PS4 the fastest selling UK gaming hardware was PSP. Traditionally Nintendo has done pretty badly here, even the NES era wasn't that great. Wii was some kind of phenomena that seeded worldwide. I think the UK is like the worst territory for Wii U with the lowest sales worldwide. Half the English speaking gaming journalists are here though so you'll hear our sales reports more than other places apart from Japan and the USA.

While mobile/ social gaming is fading in the west it is stronger than ever in Japan, so it makes sense for a Japanese company to double down in the territory they know best.

The Upad. It's a POS. That alone would not be a problem. The problem is that Nintendo has three different controllers (Upad, Wii Remote, and Pro Controller), but they still force us to use that goddamn Upad, even when we are using the other controllers. Oh, and the Upad is always on! The only way to turn it off, is to turn off the system or take out its battery. Why? Who the fuck knows? Pikmin 3: I wanted to play with the Wii Remote due to its far superior controls, but that's not good enough. My TV keeps telling me to "Look at the Upad!" Why the fuck do I need to look at a tiny standard definition screen to read messages or look at a map when I have an 32" HDTV sitting right in front of me? If the Upad were optional for games with alternate controller schemes, then I would not have any issues with the Wii U. But that's not the Nintendo way.
