This sucks.  I'm so bored.  There's a heatwave in London which means I've been unable to leave the flat for the last couple of days (basically since I got back from Scotland).  Don't really have the money to go on any more trips.  Shouldn't have turned down the chance to have gone sailing again.  The freaking Olympics is starting on Friday so I won't be able to go out the door basically ... and I'm stuck here for another ten days with nothing to play.  I'm missing my consoles so much.  I also made the stupid decision of bringing the DS with me instead of the 3DS thinking I have so many more DS games than 3DS games it's bound to be more use.  Like fuck, I have no DS games I want to play, and there's no chance of finding anything useful at the shops.  At least if I had 3DS I could have played more Pushmo or Mario Tennis ... or something I'm still not bored of.

Oh well ... I have my university textbooks on Quantum Electrodynamics and Representation Theory I could always try reading Sad

I did the impossible today. Broke the blade on my ripper.  This is a piece of equipment that attaches to a tractor to rip 12 inch rows into the ground to oxygenate it.  It hit a massive boulder.  This is not supposed to happen.

dead ripper

Sigh. See that green thing? That's a dead ripper. It weighs about 300 pounds. I have to retrieve it tomorrow and see what I can do with it.

Crytek on Wii U

Question: Rasmus Højengaard, Crytek's director of creative development, said recently there's "fat chance" of a Wii U version of Crysis 3...

I wouldn't say there's no chance. I wouldn't say no chance. I mean the Wii U still doesn't have any kind of release date attached to it at this point. Who knows what the future will bring with it.

I can definitely say that we are working with Nintendo, and that's about all I can say on that front. I wouldn't rule it out, but there has really been no official releases associated with the Wii U yet, and given that we're releasing Crysis in an eight month time period in February of 2013, we can't play off of what their schedules are. I wouldn't rule it out, but you know, it is a possibility.

Q: What's your impression of the system so far, do you like what you've seen?

I haven't seen it. Other than what I've seen in the media, I haven't really dug into it.

Really?

There are plenty of other games in development and most retailers and publishers are saying November this year. I'm not saying he HAS to make Crysis 3 Wii U, but this is a waffling, weaaaaaaak excuse.

VIDEO: Rayman Legends played with the stylus

Check this out, it's a bit like playing Lost Winds or NyxQuest on Wii.

Not sure how movement and jumping is controlled? Is it auto movement or are you using the left stick and shoulder buttons to move and jump?

EDIT: I think that is two player mode shown

The touch screen use is much more responsive and intricate than what was shown at E3. You can chop vines, hit enemies, catapult rayman, raise platforms, pop bubbles, etc etc. It's all fast moving and flowing. On the subject of touch screen games, I would like to see some touch screen ONLY games on Wii U like Soul Bubbles, World of Goo or Trauma Center with full on shaders and current get visuals.

Was tempted to go buy a Vita, but I'm kinda strapped for cash, and I don't really want a Vita so I don't think I'll do that either.

Gotta be patient I guess, and just read more books and revise my music theory.

That story is a joke. Don't worry about the US price on the low end one, it is going to be same as a comparable iPad. The high end one will be around a grand because it is an ultrathin laptop in essence.

Edit: The retailer has since clarified they made up the price as a placeholder:

The retail scene for games is totally fucked up here in the US (and I assume everywhere). I was at Best Buy where they have a clearance going on so they had a bunch of games for $10. Some of these games have been out for only a little over a year. BB also has used games and this particular BB had plenty of used games. They had Ass Creed Revelations used for $35, I turn around and on the next shelf there are a TON of ACR brand new for $10. What are people supposed to think when they see stupid shit like this.

Most of the used games dont go under $20 but most of BB big sales are down to $15 to $10, does this make any sense at all? With the way the retail market has such quick turn around with sales why should people buy over priced used games. The used games have to be like $10 to be worth , but who is going to sell their game for almost nothing. Its a total mess. Why should anyone pay full price for a game anymore if in 6 months you know it will be cut be 50% at least, usually sooner.

I would love to know how the retail scene works with games. I know stores buy in bulk to get a better deal but do they pay a price that should give them money if they sell at full price or does it account for the left over stock that gets on clearance. Do the publishers have to pay back money or something if stores have boat loads of unsold copies of games?

I've asked about this before. The best understandung I got was that at a certain point publishers have the option to buy back games and go through the whole shipping or just generate goodwill with the retailers and say "keep them, do what you can" and then write off the loss.

So basically this whole "shipped to retailers" number we get a week after launch may get adjusted down if the game is unsuccessful.

This BB had at least 30 copies of ACR on sale for $10. I cannot imagine they ordered another batch of ACR, that has to be from the first shipment I would assume. I cant even imagine a second shipment from almost any game. WIth all the used game sales and how fast so many of these games go on sale I dont think any store ever needs more than the initial shipment. Unless it is CoD of course.
