I'm going nuts here, getting insect bites.

I've tried using a flea killer detector and one of those bug zapping things for flying insects. I can't catch or see shit. Some invisible force is biting me daily now and it's pissing me off.

What can I do to find out what it is? There are no visible creatures at all.

I don't know if anyone here remembers, but I have been saying for YEARS how it seemed like Sony was blatantly forcing their developers to make more Xbox styled games on the PS3. It was obvious when you're launching with Resistance from Insomniac and have Infamous from Sucker Punch. And now this article confirms it!

So, do you like that they did this or not? That's a question for everyone here BTW.

So sad what has happened to IGN, it's when one of these ridiculous editorials lands that I realise that I used to visit the site once a day for years and now it's barely a blip on my radar. These stupid articles are the only reason I remember that they even exist anymore.

LOL!

I just read Sony's PR for the 3D VR headset:

""Picture the scene," begins Sony's latest pitch. "You're sharing your television with friends, and while they watch the latest blockbuster movie, you decide you'd rather get a high speed kick from Gran Turismo 5.

"Normally, short of grabbing the TV remote and upsetting your mates, there'd be little to do except sit and quietly imagine the thrill of the Nurburgring at 200 miles per hour, while waiting for the movie's credits to roll...

"The Personal 3D Viewer is about to change all that, however, as you'll soon be able to immerse yourself completely in a private world of entertainment. Slipping the straps of the device around your head, you'll feel as though you're sat in your own personal cinema - complete with a dazzling 3D display and dynamic, 5.1 virtual surround sound."

Can you imagine sitting in a room with a bunch of friends and putting this thing on to slip inside your own private world? They would draw penises on you.

THQ on Wii U's Power

THQ said:

Question: In what ways would the Wii U version be superior over the 360/PS3 versions?

THQ Employee: Well the Wii U is full of potential as far as specs go. I know that Metro: Last Light is running at a good 50-60 fps on the PC, so I'm not sure how the Wii U version will compare to that. But the Wii U version of games from ALL developers and publishers, have potential for much smoother framerates, improved textures, and additional bonus content that the 360/PS3 version's won't have. In a way, buying the Wii U version over the 360/PS3 versions, will be like buying the Blu-ray version of a movie instead of the standard dvd version. You get better visuals, and more additional content with the Wii U version of any game compared to the other console version. But this will only happen as long as a developer or publisher puts in the time and effort instead of doing a straight port.

Question: I noticed a lot of games for 360 and PS3 don't take advantage of TRUE 1080p. Could we see more games on Wii U taking advantage of true 1080p resolution?

THQ Employee: The Wii U is much more powerful than the other HD consoles, so Wii U doesn't have a huge problem doing 1080p for the majority of its games. Will Darksiders 2 and Metro: Last Light be in 1080p on Wii U? I can't speak for the teams behind those games. I don't work on those specific teams so I can't say what they plan to do with the Wii U versions of their games as far as graphics or content go. I do know based on the specs I've seen, the console is more than capable of graphics that surpass current consoles. It's like I said before. Expect majority of third party Wii U games from most publishers to have true 1080p, additional content, and smoother framrates than what the PS3/360 versions offer. If you want the DEFINITIVE version of any game in your library, I would suggest either the PC version or the Wii U version...at least for now. This is not a knock agains the 360/PS3 versions of any games either. Fans of the 360 and PS3 are the majority of the gamers who games...period. So publishers have to give them the best product we can.

Question: There is a lot of emphasis on graphics nowadays. Where do you see graphics going with future consoles? And will the Wii U be able to graphically compete against new consoles from Sony and Microsoft?

THQ Employee: Listening to people within the company, people are pretty happy with the specs of the Wii U. I don't think anyone has anything to worry about. There is one thing I want to mention though. Better graphics is not all rosey for gamers in the long run. Better graphics means that game developers have to increase their staff and their budgets so games will tap into the full potential of next gen hardware. The costs to hire more artists or programmers to a team would get passed down to gamers. Which is why 360 and PS3 games went up 10 bucks compared to the previous generation with Playstation 2, GameCube, and Xbox. It's fun to dream about the possibilities of the kind of graphics you could see if a console had 10 times better graphics than the current consoles. But with a console that is 10 times more powerful...expect 10 dollars to be added to the price tag every generation. Again, I'm just speculating. I'm not saying any publisher would add to the price. But games aren't selling like they use to, and costs to produce high budget games need to be passed down to the consumers who can afford to play. I predict a very expensive future in gaming.

LOL I approve:

In the trailer, players will witness the drama unfold as they are put into the role of bush pilot Logan James after he survives a horrific plane crash that leaves him in a remote corner of the Alaskan high country. Injured, isolated and in the middle of a hostile wilderness, Logan is cut off from all hope of rescue and it’s up to players to guide him to safety in his epic battle against deadly predators and the frigid elements of nature.

Well, they've made some good games, but they also kind of stripped the PS3 of  that "Playstation" feeling, so to speak. And I think that's a big part of the reason why PS3 hasn't been anywhere near as successful as past Sony consoles. They seemed like they were being a follower, instead of a leader.

So, if there were more Jak and Daxters, Sly Racoons and Rachets out there, do you think they would have been as popular as they were on PS2? Or has the market changed like what Peter Moore said about Rare?

I think if they had made those, and also more games like Shadow OTC and Ico, stuff like Mark of Kri...as well as actually went and got 3rd-party exclusives like they always had, they would have been more popular.

I think Peter Moore is right, the market has changed. A bunch of factors have worked against Sony and the two biggest ones were the cost of the PS3 and that it came out a year after the 360. Third parties were certainly more inclined to make their games at least multiplatform where they might have just been on the PS3 before. As good as Uncharted and Killzone are they just can't beat Gears and Halo especially in the online multiplayer department and while Resistance has gotten better it's still a somewhat above average game. Most people would probably get their FPS games on the 360 for other reasons like controller preference and mics. While games like Jak, Sly, and Shadow may have had a good deal of fans I doubt that they would have been sizable enough to make a difference.

They already have three Ratchet & Clank games with a fourth one coming soon. I don't know what the numbers are but I'd be willing to guess that they're probably close to being the same as the PS2 games.

Sony needs more exclusive franchises that don't feel like they're trying to copy the "xbox" style. Obviously not selling your console for $600 helps too. All the games that used to go hand in hand with Playstation gaming are all multi-platform now. The Resident Evil's, Tomb Raider's, Final Fantasies, Metal Gear's, etc...

The market has changed though. FPS games are the big thing right now. Sony does have exclusive stuff but it's just not as big as what's currently hot this gen like Call of Duty, Halo, and Gears. They're still big enough to do well just not big enough to change anything to any large degree. Third party exclusives make little sense to any developer these days since the two systems are so comparable.

Shooters have been the big thing for over 10 years now really.

Even back in the 90's, if you wanted to be one of the "cool people" you were playing Goldeneye. Granted, Shooters have taken over to a ridiculous degree in this era though. I'm really hoping there's less of an emphasis on the genre going forward, and more on clever level design and things that have been lacking to an extent.

Also, the systems last gen were comparable also....all 3 of them were. Surely all those PS2 exclusives could have easily been adapted to the Xbox and Gamecube, yet they weren't. Consoles haven't been drastically different from each other since the PS1/N64 days.

FPS games were no where as dominant as they are now especially on consoles. Systems being comparable isn't just about specs and formats it's also about the size of the userbase and the PS2 clearly smashed the Xbox and Gamecube there making multiplatform games nowhere near as desirable as it is now, mostly between the 360 and PS3.
