Eh, no they're not. It's a port, it's not portable, it has no extra content or functions, just that it's playable on PS3 in HD/3D which don't do much to spice up PSP quality visuals. Only hardcore fans will double dip so it will do anything from 100k to 500k imo, not much more than that, if that. Monster Hunter has pretty much peaked in Japan and Portable 3rd has already sold more than any other title, it's getting Dragon Quest numbers and so is probably more limited by the gaming market as a whole than any platform shortcomings in terms of sales. Now if it was 3rd G instead, ie all new ranks and monsters and gear and general content on top of the existing, it could do better, but still nowhere near as good as a portable release.

We'll see.
Second analog stick support, playable on PSN, HD graphics... Pick up at home wher eyou left off on the subway... All sounds like something any MH fan would want.
Even if it only sells a million, that's going to make CAPCOM very happy with Sony's decision (free money).
Home versions were never that popular despite having comparable features to what the PS3 version brings to the table (obviously not HD on PS2, but still cleaner and better visuals than what the PSP got with the later downports). Monster Hunter only sold insane numbers after the first PSP game. It's the portability that sells it. All PSP games up to this one were enhanced ports of home versions, home versions that never took off. No way will a home port of an already successful title that fans already have bought do almost as good as Monster Hunter Tri which had almost 100% all new monsters, areas, gear, better visuals, and properly developed online play with cities and what not, just for cleaner but still PSP level visuals. Granted this one doesn't have online fees, but Monster Hunter fans already have it on PSP. If they also have a PS3, they can already play that version online with the same exact interface (ad hoc party). This will be closer to the Monster Hunter G re-release on Wii (~100k in Japan) than Monster Hunter Tri (~1 million in Japan ~2 million worldwide) which is the most successful home version of Monster Hunter by a decent margin. If anything this might be aimed more for the West, where PSP software doesn't sell shit most of the time, but it still isn't likely to do so great without a marketing campaign like Nintendo's, despite the benefits the whole series can reap in these regions from the exposure the Wii title got thanks to Nintendo and thanks to being of the supposedly few hardcore titles on Wii with outlets that couldn't care less about the platform still mentioning it relatively often with best lists etc.
If they want a PS3 or 360 Monster Hunter to do as good as Tri on Wii, it has to be an all new title, and it has to have PS3 level visuals (and thus in the end be less profitable than Tri) not just PSP graphics without jaggies and barely noticable misc enhancements. HD or no it's gonna be a bigger eyesore on the big screen than on PSP with all these low res textures and comparatively crappy effects. Now of course it will be profitable but just as anything with nonexistent cost is, the title has already more than made up for its development costs by the PSP sales alone, not to mention half or more of the content is recycled from the Wii and other games making it even cheaper to produce in the first place. It's not gonna be any sign of the franchise's potential on home platforms or on PS3 in particular. It's just free money as you say, they could just as well put it on 360 and iOS if they don't have a Sony exclusivity deal for it. I should add my predictions are for a pricing close to $40. If it's the equivalent of $20 or less to begin with then it could do better but still not as Tri, in numbers or revenue.

I'd love to have this magical version of LBP that you played. The one I got had boring-ass level design.
Bought SC2 and L.A. Noire. I shouldn't be allowed to carry money.
---
Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileWhat are you talking about, every level intriduced something new. From the early simple levels, to jumping around animals backs, guiding bombs in a mexican town, driving around in a city, guiding a dog through dark mazes, and the final levels which took pure platforming mastery to complete. It had puzzles, boss fights, variety in vehicles and situations. It had everything a great platformer should have except the jumping was floaty.
Catwoman from the movie! Bane was also shown earlier this week.
That is precisely my problem with the game. I would grade it an easy 9 or higher if it wasn't for the floaty jumping. It gets really irritating.
Flat ass.
Just like LBP was a flat game.
Sweet Catwoman suit, similar to Michelle Pfeiffer's. They even included the goggles. How did they know I'm an ass man?
I'm so glad to see the Penguin in Arkham City. He looks just like a greasy mob leader.
