It is almost a physical impossibility that anyone could be LESS of a RockStar fan than me...
...and this game has made a believer out of me!
This is one of the most NON-mechanical, NATURALLY-flowing sandbox games ever, ever, ever devised!
Your NOT just going from mission to mission with loose story line elements tying set-pieces together in this game. It REALLY feels like you are living a life here!
I'm not gonna try to convince you, but it would be a shame for ANY gamer to miss this game!
Hmm, Crazy Taxi is on GCN . . . I haven't played that game since the Dreamcast days. I just might pick that one up someday. At least it won't be neutered like the current-gen release.
Since you are not a Rockstar fan-boy that may why you like it so much. I've beaten 5 of their games in the last 18-24 months (so I am a fan-boy I guess) and that's why I'm sick of their games. But you are right on with your other games, so I'll move from "I'll probably never play it" to "I'll keep an open mind and check out some reviews from others I trust in addition to you".
It's going to get the GOTY's this year huh?
Just wrap the store in a towel and rush it to GameStop for trade-in.
Been playing with my PSP and Wii this past week.
I finally got a 16gb memory stick for my PSP. I thought I got a fake and freaked out when the transfer speed seemed a bit slower than my 4gb stick. But I'm sure a major computer store chain won't sell fake ones or else I could sue them!
I don't know why my new 16gb stick is slightly slower, but it still works so I should be content with that.
And DKC Returns is just AMAZING! Can't say enough good things about it.

No, it will be like the neutered gamecube release.
How so?
^Just being a dick. DC version FTW!!!!

Awful DC controller, FTL!
The DC controller seemed painful to use. Never held one, btw. I'm just going by the looks of it.
I mean, look at this shit, man. It looks like a fucking manta or an alien anal probe.
Hmm, the Hamster's plus count is looking a tad high, and this is a highly offensive statement!
A new theory on Steve Irwin's death? Drunk aliens misse their mark?
Agreed. Steel, don't judge by looks, it's very comfortable for the large handed man.
Playing GT5 feels like meeting an old friend again, after a long time. And it was a long time. I played the first two extensively, but not having owned a PS2 in its heyday, I missed both GT3 and GT4. So getting back to the franchise to find its trademark staples intact and at the same time pushing more visual flair and features than ever before feels like coming back home.
It's the only standard controller to cause me physical pain when using it. Awful design, IMO.
Loved the DC's games, though.
It's not that different to the various Xbox pads in feel. It even has a shit d-pad. It was an okay controller as most are, just a huge, huge disappointment after the godly Saturn controllers which had awesome d-pads and 6 face buttons and all those beat em ups that worked best with that setup, which meant their sequels on DC felt gimped. The triggers and analog stick were good though, and the VMU functions, while they were just a novelty, had the occasional awesome use, like a first person dungeon crawler mini game you got from a Time Stalkers item shop. It was better than the full game. I occasionally looked for similar but more advanced games on any platform and couldn't find much. The Dark Spire on DS seemed to come close but was way too hardcore in comparison.

Ugh, the DC controller. Just a bizarre, bizarre design with a memory card thingy that fits in the middle that plays little games on it. Such a wierd idea.
But I was still able to play games on it, except for that atrocious d-pad. That d-pad was so bad. Much worse than the Gamecube's tiny little d-pad!
And no, Agnates, the 360 controller is MUCH MUCH BETTER than the DC controller. I can actually play Street Fighter on it!
I think you're thinking about that giant original XBOX controller which is a better comparison to DC's controller.

Couple more impressions:
Endles Ocean Blue World - Man, I love this game! I've always loved wildlife and nature. I watch a lot of Animal Planet, LOL! So I appreciate this game very much! Really a relaxing trip! Great graphics! But still, I'd love to see this on the 360 or something.
DKC Returns - The latter levels are CRAZY! But damn, the game is so good! The level design in this game is just beyond insanity and amazing!

It's not giant, I've got it right here. The distance from the stick to the face buttons is only a bit larger than a current 360 pad. Like a button's length or so. It's bulkier in ways that don't affect grip, like the space in the middle where Start is, and dual VMU slots. As for SF, I don't consider any modern 1st party pad suitable for it.
There's an underwater exploration game on PS3 but it seems pretty crap in comparison. I hope Nintendo funds Arika for a third Endless Ocean. With a little higher budget to fix up the character animations outside swimming, and maybe a return to the original game's more freeform exploration (you had one big map and could choose where to stop the boat, anywhere on that map, and then explore around a certain radious from the ship, rather than preset anchor points) it would be sweet. The controls/interface could be made more fluid also.
Although by having all the different locations in this game there's not gonna be much left for another sequel without having much content repeated... But they could change the focus of the game to be more about the locations. Maybe they could ditch things like the pulsar and add some more realistic things, like random disasters occuring... Revisiting an area you could see, for example, corals dying, and reduced amounts of sealife. Then you'd try to discover the cause by sending samples to labs, waiting for the results, finding oil leaks, sunken ships with chemicals, some from accidents, some from illegal activities, etc. You'd take photos, proof of how it happened, and try to attract publicity to raise funds from the governments and from donations to then hire the needed crew and equipment to clean up the mess. Then finally you'd try to restore the ecosystem by capturing species from other areas where they're abudant and bringing them in where they've been reduced.
It could be like an eco management game on top of the current gameplay. You'd start by exploring, learning and maintaining small isolated areas by yourself and limited crew, then expand as you raise funds, being able to move and repeat the process in a different area while you leave behind equipment and crew that can automatically alert you of signs of trouble while you're away. Eventually you could monitor the whole available areas' ecosystems.
Letting you sail would be sweet too. Get the water and waves to look/move like they do in Wii Sports Resort! And fishing! Gotta have fishing. To feed your pets. Attach cameras on larger species. And free others from nets!
