I finished Yoshi's Island (GBA) . . . again, and now I'm trying to get 100% every level, which is quite the challenge. I also played about halfway through Tomb Raider Legend (GCN).
Trying to finish Kirby's Epic Yarn, but had too much to do this weekend to really play.
Just finished listening to the gameinformer podcast #46 : http://gameinformer.com/b/podcasts/archive/2010/11/04/game-informer-show-46-supreme-court-kinect-bond-games.aspx
They spent the first 36 minutes talking about the ESA vs Schwartzenegger. That was pretty poor as they are completely ignorant as to how the Supreme Court operates. Probably not as annoying to most people, but to me, who follows everything the Court does it was horribly frustrating to listen to. The most egregious thing they did was not disclaim that they are owned by the same company as GameStop, who almost single-handedly funds teh ESA. Oh well.
After a Kinect lovefest Tim Turi comes on at minute 54 to talk about his Goldeneye review. If you like the game and have not filled your quota of anger for the day I thoroughly recommend it. He does say it's the best FPS on the Wii (so of course that's why it's garbage).
holy shit G.I has podcasts man i bet they are just as poor as the mag
I had no idea there was a Yoshi's Island on the GBA.
Yep, it's called Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island. It's the same game as the SNES original.
Anyone getting a Limited Edition Super Mario red Wii? I saw one at my local Walmart today. It certainly looks unique.
I'd love to but I doubt my current Wii will ever die. I am getting the All-Star game with the CD and artbook though.
"unique" -- so you are not sure if you like it or not?
It looks interesting, but it's way too brightly colored for me. If I ever decided to buy another Wii, it would be a black one.
I always enjoy the variants personally. I just like having different things.
^ Looking at my entertainment center right now: I have a silver TV, silver TV Stand, silver DVD Player, silver wireless headphone reciever w/ silver headphones, and a silver Gamecube w/ silver Wavebird. I like matching things.
Before anyone asks. No, I'm not.
I just got COD Black Ops Wii a day early.
WTF is this?
I trusted that Treyarch would continue the good work and improve upon their work on the COD4 port. But no.
The first two levels look like a PSP game, it looks worse than WaW on Wii
The controls are great, a step forward from REFLEX even and better than Goldeneye by a good shot.
However I can't get past how ugly everything looks so far. I have only played for 15 minutes but I'm not happy so far. The first level of WaW Wii looked like crap too, but it got a lot better later.
Goldeneye continues to be the shit.
I expected that there would be a mix of great and okay levels. But the consistency is great here, the jungle is soooooo much better than I expected and the villain facility afterwards is great. When did Eurocom get level design this good before?
Apart from the Club which was meh, there are a couple of good levels and then the rest are excellent. The AI and weapons, it feels like Halo in respect to the "Combat Evolved" moniker. This feels like it does for realistic FPS, as what Halo did for sci fi ones. The balance is there, the level design is tighter than anything I have played in the COD games. It all feels very satisfying. All I can complain about is that the frame rate is pitchey here and there. This is an excellent game for fast and furious action as well as being great fun for people who like to experiment and sneak about.
So it looks like MoH Heroes? That's a shame, although It's one thing to have 2-10 mostly programmers do a port of an existing decent game like it happened with WaW and Reflex for the Wii and a whole other thing if Activision provided similarly pathetic resources for a few programmers and artists to create a full brand-new from the ground up game for it, even if they tried to stick close to the source material... It may not have been Treyarch's fault alone it sucks if it was something like that. Although I don't see why they couldn't down-port character and weapon models, textures and other content, even if they wanted to redo the levels etc, in order to keep the quality similar to the previous ports even if it's not one. Oh well, good thing GoldenEye turned out pretty good.

IMO so far, MOHH2 has the edge over it. At least it was cleaner, smoother and the bloom made it pretty-ish.
I posted some offscreen pics but they are awful quality captures - from a 5 megapixel camera no less.
No way is this game from the ground up as it's nowhere near the best of what Wii can do.
Also, this game has DLC for Wii. Proper DLC.
**Additional fees may be required for Add-on Content.
This game allows you to connect to the internet and download add-on content (such as data or services) for Wii Points. Please keep the following in mind when downloading licences for add-on content..." etc. etc.
It does go on about similar stuff, and it does say it will be stored in an SD card etc.
Star Blazers creator falls from The Yamato to his death.
If you have 10 people build it from the ground up it won't look like the best made by a hundred at Nintendo. Or like the best of the artists when they have to rush a given amount of content until the deadlines. Go look at videos of the 360 version's start or something and see if what you played is an exact recreation with missing textures and polygons etc, or if it appears to be a low-fi reimagining and thus a mostly new, similar scene. Is the frame rate smooth at least? Like, smoother than Reflex (which wasn't very smooth really, but not annoying most of the time)? The dips annoy me in GoldenEye, they get nasty in (thankfully only) a few parts.

The run move seems slower so far, but I think it's because I was following other in game characters and the game wanted me to be behind them all the time. There is a really gaudy FOLLOW in like yellowish captial letters on top of the guy you are following, really sort of breaks from any kind of realism.
The texture resolution is just ugly though and coming off Goldeneye it just looks weak in that regard.
Frame rate was smooth.
