Ah. Too bad.
---
Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileHOBO WARNING!
If you see this on sale, even for seventy cents DO NOT BUY IT:
It's from the designer and artist who did Parappa the Rapper -- don;t let that fool you, it's an unplayable mess. I had heard it was bad (it has a metacritic of 45), but I figured, "Well for $12 I'll give it a try". NO DON'T.
Nice try.
Some of those are pretty cool, but some look awful.
He's the Grasshopper guy and part of reason I like Grasshopper games. Now he's gone.
Played more Goldeneye, I went from an under 20" SDTV to a 50 inch HDTV. Blergh! Aside from the graphics getting murky and jaggy, it reminded me of what a large screen does to FPS controls on Wii. Because the screen is physically bigger, you end up having to move your wrist and hand to cover that area. So I've gone from moving my hand a few inches to moving my hand a couple of feet on a 50 inch TV. Also, compared to CRTs, plasmas and LCDs, unless they are top of the line have slight motion problems so unless you are playing a 60 FPS game the games seem more framey.
Anyhow the tank level was fun, explosive, if brief. I will try it out again and take my time with it, see if I can just mess about without having to chase the car and see if the game makes me fail automatically. Then there is this construction level which does have some notable frame rate hiccups which are exaggerated on the big screen plasma. It's a decent level though it forces you to use assault type action over stealth, thankfully there always seems to be several different ways you can make your way around the environment to reach the same goal, so you can either do a front assault or flank the enemy or stay back and snipe or go to a higher or lower level. It's pretty smart design that feels a lot less rigid than you average COD level.
Then I got to Zukofsky park, pretty cool this level, back to either stealth or action, looks great, actually sort of reminds me of splinter cell in the first person. Again though there are frame rate hiccups here and there.
Tooled around with the controls more, which I had pretty perfect before, I had to adjust, fairly unsuccessfully to the larger screen. The problem is that there is no whole screen camera lock i.e the camera doesn't move, but your pointer can, so instead of the pointer turning the screen it just moves the cursor for mouse like precision.
In ADS I tried to extend the dead zone to the whole screen but the game only lets you increase it to 90 leaving room either side. I'm going to have to re-fiddle with it tomorrow
Goldeneye Dolphin shots.
More here
Anyone taken up the WiiWare downloadable demos yet?
I have Jett Rocket which is decent for the money.
Tried out Furry something or other, Legend? Sucked, the framerate was like a slideshow, how is that demo going to encourage anyone to buy that? Plus it had useless waggle controls and didn't use superior IR and the whole momentum of the character controls were awful.
Played Thruspace this nintendo puzzle game, kinda cool, you rotate and turn blocks to fit into a wall shape as you are propelled forward. Might be decent but after the gazillionth tutorial I just gave up as I just wanted to try a proper level.
Played Zombie Panic in Wonderland. Thread here. It was pretty fun, it's like RE4 when you have your back to the wall and you just hold up blasting away. Controls were great, weapons were cool, flamethrower et al. Everything and I mean everything could be destroyed, enemy mix up is nice, they even had red japanese figures instead of red explosive barrels. Graphics are great, concept and characters are charming.
But..... you can only move from side to side, which makes it a shooting gallery. I already played the demo level 4 times over cause its sorta fun. I would pay good money for a full retail game of this IF you could actually walk into the screen. It would be like Jet Force Gemini only with awesome IR controls. Hope they do a full retail game of this where you can walk about the levels. It's really cool destroying everything.
Just picked up FlingSmash with the Wii Remote Plus.
Controller is what you would expect. It's basically Wii Motion Plus inside an original size Wii Remote. Very Nice! No more huge, bulky controller with a mandatory condom on it!
FlingSmash is also what you would expect: A game that basically works out to $10 if you were to take away the cost of the Controller. Just like Wii Play, it's kinda lame.
One, it's by Artoon. Two, never has such a simple game been so overburdened by SUCH unnecessary dialogue. It's basically a game where you bash a ball around on a screen, collecting crap and keeping yourself moving during forced scrolling stages. Do you REALLY need to make us sit through 10 minutes of dialogue Nintendo...? Really...? Really? Featuring the most forgettable mascot of all time: A Yellow Kirby with Smaller Eyes and a Tuft of Hair on his head. I shudder to think that THIS was almost released as a stand-alone game!
Save yourself the $10 and just get the controller on its own!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Guess I'll start things off.
What have you guys been playing?
For me:
GoldenEye 007
Couldn't resist. Picked this up when I had a chance. I sold some of my 360 games and got it. It was worth it. It's becoming one of my favorite games of this gen, all because it's a really good Bond game and a good FPS.
Ys: Oath of Fenghana
I also picked this up this weekend. I had to earn this one by recycling all my water bottles and coke cans!
It was worth it!
God of War Ghost of Sparta
And finally, I picked this up also with my recent pay check.
Syphon Filter Dark Mirror
With the leftovers, I finally picked this up. I have Logan's Shadow and really like it. I know Dark Mirror is also good.
I was feeling a bit down lately (job problems), but these games have provided some stress relief, which has been good.
Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
This weekend, I became a Crossing-Guard Police officer in Crackdown. I think I am doing it wrong.
I have been faithfully sticking to one game at a time lately. CrackDown will be my 5th game finished in a month and a half period. All the other games in my Gamer Card are Thanks to my nephew!
I tried about 10 minutes of FlingSmash, but my impressions haven't changed very much from my initial postings.
What else?
45 hours in, SL100, only world 5 left to clear before proceeding with 1-3 onwards and the end game event.
I mainly played GoldenEye 007 and finished it once (sweet, for the most part). I played a bit more of Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes as well, I finished it with more characters (sweet, too). Then I did a pair of missions in Valkyria Chronicles 2 (sweet, but I'm a bit burnt out on it, I need a longer break to get back into it fully). Then I played some Minecraft, made a small dock and went fishing. Finally I played some more of Baldur's Gate II.
I should probably get one of those PSP Syphon Filter games for another stealth action fix after GoldenEye 007... But I fear they aren't so good. I only really liked the first Syphon Filter game back then, the rest I played were competent but not special and less stealthy... And then there are the PSP controls... Should I try Ys Seven? I haven't played any Ys. I'll probably wait for price drops. Anyway, the FIRST MEDIA OF THE Wii COD: BLACK OPS!
And after that...NG+.
Holy crap! God of War Ghost of Sparta looks incredible!
Quite amazing for a PSP game. This and MGS Peace Walker is close when it comes to best visuals on the PSP.
But what an awesome looking game and really fun so far!
Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
Beat career mode in Guitar Hero 5. Some things are better than the ones before, somethings worse. All in all a pretty mediocre experience, but way better that 3.
Got about 6 hours in Dragon Quest 4. Still good, just grinding around.
Excitebots. I like the spirit but not the controls.
Major Minor's Majestic March. It's not a game, it's a DVD in a case that makes you wish you had spent the money better.
Crackdown, about a third of the way through.
Bayonetta. Put it down, will pick up again before teh end of the year. The loading and saving got real old real fast. Plus also, I don't feel a real conenciton between what I am doing and what the character does on screen.
Have not touched Eternal Darkness for a week. I know I am almost done, but it's a chore of a game.
OMG did anyone else see the new Black Ops commercial? Kobe and Jimmy Kimmel's in it!
Wonder how much Activision paid Kobe to get him in the spot! Pretty cool!
