Sorry about the lightgun comment that was highly shortsighted of me and inaccurate, but the developers on the Wii (barring a few exceptions), haven't sold me on the idea that I absolutely need all my shooters to have IR sensor functionality. Most of the games have been simplified or dumbed down in a way to be more suitable for the Wiimote, and I don't like that. As most of you know shooting isn't the only part of FPS's these days as they becoming more and more complex, and more and more cross into other genres. Most of the Wii's shooters are old school in design, and are completely linear...I'm sure they will continue to get better, but as of now I can't simply put all of my marbles on potential. Improved aiming alone, will never be the selling point of a game to me.
You're having trouble quoting? What I've been doing if I want to only respond to one part of someone's post is that I'll write my response below the entire quoted post, and then remove what I'm not responding to. I think I've tried deconstructing people's posts into more than one part and responding to each part, but I'm having trouble with that.
@gaminggeek Oh yeah pointing and selecting items along with aiming with ranged weapons were definately aspects of the Wii-mote that I really enjoyed most in Zelda: TP. I also enjoyed most of the close-up fighting aspects as well especially some of the techniques that you could learn from the ghost knight like the ones that utilized the movement of the nunchuck.
There are certainly many more games that I'd love to try and all those games are in that list.
Just Practicing, I hope I got it now, this is getting embarassing.
I always use the Advanced control option, for speed. I know about the Z thing, but it only works the way you're describing it if I'm not within targeting range of anything. It's almost exactly like the difference between centering the camera and targeting something in the Zeldas (except that we can aim off-center even with a locked perspective).
Holy crap, I swear I never saw that new PS controller news.
EDIT: Wait maybe I did, but I had that idea in my head for a long time now.
Finally.....holy shit fuck. My brain was about to implode. Just keep doing what you just did.
Dude...if Animal Crossing Wii is Nintendo's "big core game" I'm going to be pissed. Nothing against AC, but that should NEVER be the big real game of a system's year.

Don't forget Kid Icarus.
I was thinking the same thing.
P.S. this is a very old mock-up from IGN. Remember this is before the Classic controller was revealed.
Okay, what's wrong with Kotaku? Did I miss some sort of anti-Kotaku memo?

Dvader once made fun of me for liking this game, so I feel vindicated that it indeed looks badfuckingass now. I am all over this game, check out the video on page 1.
That's exactly what Nintendo should have come out with. I'd much rather have that than the lame ass classic pad with its cheap feel and wannabe Snes shape.
Kotaku likes to take things out of context and sensationalize them, and they are worse than I am when it comes to stealing articles from NeoGAF.
"When I was around her, I felt like a goblin made entirely out of wicked genitals"
I keep getting interrupted by pesky customers today, so here is the PS3mote's right side, I haven't got the nunchuk ready to go yet. I don't think I could begin to pass this off for a hoax. It is way too fake looking and photoshopped. Oh well... anyway, if they do a controller like this, this will need that IR sensor where I've put it, otherwise your finger would be in the way.
"When I was around her, I felt like a goblin made entirely out of wicked genitals"
Oh, well. To be honest, until today, I've only gone to Kotaku rarely; GoNintendo is the only other site I visit daily besides Insert Coin. I went to Kotaku for multiplatform news since I don't follow other consoles much.
No big deal at all dude. I still go there, as they definitely break some news faster than anywhere else, they just have moments where they are completely lacking in integrity.
"When I was around her, I felt like a goblin made entirely out of wicked genitals"
See, the problem I see with that is that using the stick might be too difficult. With one's strongest fingers up at the top for the shoulder buttons; with the large face button region in the center; with the wing that I assume is there but obstructed in the pic; with an off-center stick; and with a button incorporated into the stick, one's hand may not have good enough control of the stick to make such a controller practical. That's my biggest worry with trying to "split" a DualShock in half: that the space taken for all the buttons the DualShock has will force the stick to be in a position that destabilizes the hand/thumb when the stick is used. This stability issue is not generally a problem when another hand is present to steady the controller.
Think about playing MGS3 and using the index and middle fingers of both hands for both sets of shoulder buttons at the same time--i.e. those fingers aren't available to grasp the controller. This mostly happens in that game if you're lying down, raising yourself up with L2+R2, and using a sighted gun other than a handgun; or if you're doing the same thing while standing up, for that matter. I don't know about the rest of you, but even with two hands, that arrangement makes things much more difficult insofar as holding the controller stable and ready goes. Obviously, things are much better when you only use your index finger for the shoulder buttons, so I guess this is more a complaint about the DualShock design, or a complaint about MGS, than it is about a "half-DualShock" controller. However, since there's not another hand to provide steadiness, the problem is made worse in the "half-DualShock" case, IMO.
Am I not thinking about this very thoroughly? Am I missing something, or have I hit upon a justifiable concern?
