I find it amuzing that you spend for a flagship foldable phone, but can't muster to buy a controller for it, which should be only a laughable amount in comparision.

Can't you attach any bluetooth controller to it that you have lying around? I can imagine with a little searching online, you coukd even get a joycon to pair with your phone.

Got the phone used on ebay. Never pay full price for anything.

I will rather wait a year for an eshop game to drop £2 lower then buy it with gritted teeth.

Seriously I waited like 16 months for Hollow Knight to drop.

Can't stop playing Ganryu 2.

I can't even get off the first level. Granted its several times bigger than most Shinohi levels, but still.

And yet the game feels so good to play I'm motivated to keep going and get better. Excellent controls, makes you feel like a bad ass slashing down enemies.

Nintendo switch  2 specs from Jan this year by Necro Felipe:
T239 SoC
TSMC N4 node process (4 nanometre?)
8-core A78C CPU, clock rates unknown, don’t know what’s meant by GA10F (this could be the GPU line)
12 stream multiprocessor GPU, performance ranging from 3.5 to 4.5 TFLOPs docked and 1.7 to 2.0 TFLOPs handheld
12 or 16GB RAM, LPDDR5 DRAM
100GB/s memory bandwidth docked and 88GB/s handheld
Memory cache specifics uncertain, Tegra GPU cores may be able to access CPU cache
Display is 8″ screen with 1080p and 60hz refresh rate
Internal storage either 256 or 512GB
Cartridge specifics unknown, but 3D-NAND may provide a cost-effective way to significantly increase storage
Expanded/external(?) storage and battery details remain unknown
Additional details referring to DLSS, Reflex and Ray Tracing with favourable comparisons to RTX 3000 graphic cards, full HD (1080p) on handheld mode, a 512GB internal storage ceiling and 500GB storage potential on cartridges utilising 3D-NAND technology”
That’s a lot to swallow, but the main takeaways here would be the promise of legitimately powerful specs, that we can believe can take ports of games that were released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in the same way that the Switch could take ports of games from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Of course, you are also likely to remember that the Nintendo Switch was able to punch well above its weight thanks to specialist port studios. They did make compromises on these newer games, but as Switch users cheerily pointed out, ports of games like Doom Eternal, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Nier: Automata The End Of Yorha Edition are highly satisfactory.
Regardless of how you process these rumors, Nintendo is now in a strange situation. Even though the company, theoretically, stays one generation behind their competitors in terms of technology, they take just as long to make games as these other studios do. Splatoon 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom both took a solid five years to make, which isn’t overly long for the industry, but unfortunately, the norm.

So Necro Felipe is a Brazilian games journalist running a Nintendo site called Universo Nintendo. It's the most comprehensive set of specs we've seen. Doesn't mean it's legit but looking back on the list of lot of it matches with other leaks we heard.
The teraflop range of PS4 Pro docked and PS4 handheld lines up with what two tech youtubers said at a much later date, both of which are Nvidia insiders.
The RAM amount and bandwidth lines up. The storage amount lines up with shipping info. The GPU we already knew.

The die shrink is interesting, because the T239 is an 8nm chip which is bigger than the XB1 SOC so there was always debate from Digital Foundry because it would be a hotter more battery hungry device. Then months after Necro Felipes specs leak we heard that the extra time allowed Nintendo to do a die shrink and gave the system a power boost as the clocks can run higher without overheating. And the battery will last longer.

It's all pretty interesting. As someone who hasn't owned a PS4 or XB1, a graphics bump is anything over the current switch, so it will be fine with me.

I've watched YouTube video compilations of the best looking PS4 Pro games and they look great to me.

Do you guys still buy a lot of full price boxed retail games?

I do for some big releases and re-releases of beloved games like Ace Attorney.

But if game prices are going to rise to £50 or £60, I can see myself buying less games unless they are on sale.

Buying smaller cheaper digital games has kind of eroded the value of these big 3rd party games. I can see myself continuing buying many small indie games and only a few big retail boxed games a year from now on.

Maybe 4 games to 5 big games a year?

I buy all of my Nintendo switch games physical carts if available. I've stopped buying PS5 games physical because they are almost always incompete, and requiring an additional download to play.

Edit: I usually wait for Nintendo Switch games to go down at least $5-10 before buying them. I rarely pay full price for a PS games since I wait for them to be as feature complete and as bug free as possible before I buy, which takes six months to a year after release. By then, they are half price or even less.

I still buy a fair amount of games right away at full retail price. Probably about a dozen or more per year. Doubt that’ll change all that much for me in the foreseeable future. If I don’t pick up a game within the first month then I’ll typically just wait for at least one discount.

I finally deprogrammed myself of the fear of missing out on the latest games. I'm more than content replaying my favorite games or waiting until the game is dirt cheap before I pick it up. This year, I think the most I've spent on a game was $14.

That's not to say I won't pay full price for a game again. I probably would have if Visions of Mana had gotten a physical release for the PS4. But most weeks I don't spend more than about 10 or 12 hours playing a game, so I couldn't keep up with the latest releases even if I wanted to. So because of that, I'm quite content to do all the hobo buying that I can.

I think for me the argument for buying physical was to stop eating up my storage space. But so many games launch, even on Switch with incomplete carts, missing games in trilogy packs etc. Or codes in box, or have huge additional patches, the lure of physical has waned somewhat.

I guess for physical I'm thinking years from now in the future I'll still be able to play physical games. But the downloads mean that might not be possible anyway.

And changing tv formats has rendered most of my old consoles obsolete anyway.

I can confirm 2 things:

1. Ganryu 2 is awesome
2. It doesn't make you restart the whole game if you die

There's a Rumour going around by people claiming to have featured on a recent commercial filming, for the Switch 2 reveal.

They said its called the  Nintendo Superior, that the screen is way bigger than the Switch. That it has magnetic joycons and that the joycons have analogue triggers. The joycons are more shaped to the hand making it more comfortable to use.

It's from 4chan.

Edit: Also a more reliable source says early October reveal and $400 price

People seem to think that the market is so stupid it can't grasp the concept of a follow up system being called "whatever" 2.

Because Wii U flopped, cause of the name. People didn't understand it was a new system. Would have sold better if it was called wii 2?

Maybe a little but what's the problem with Nintendo calling a sequel system 2?

Superior is total horseshit.

Nothing could help the Wii U. Confusing name and I think the Upad hurt it a lot with people. I remember my sister being kinda interested in it when I told her about it. That quickly changed when I showed her the Upad. "WTH? No. No way!" she said. LOL

The only company with worse console names is MS. The Xbox name is fine, but they lost it ever since.

I think if Nintendo had positioned the Wii U as a Nintendo DS that you could use with your TV, I think they might have had something. They would have had to change their approach to a lot of the software, since the touchpad rarely did anything important for most of their games, other than show a map.

I think the console was doomed no matter what, but I think they could have struggled to a more respectable level of failure.

I think too for children, who were already using tablets which they can take anywhere and still use them were baffled that they were given a tablet to use (Wii U) and then it only worked within a small range. I know the kids who tried the Wii U at my place were like -- what sort of baby toy is this?
