Well, I look forward to watching it for free when it comes to a streaming platform, and then possibly turning it off after 20 minutes before switching back to something else. I've already watched a hundred times before.

This is what I will do as well, just like with the Flash.

Ugh. Spent an evening sorely losing in Splatoon. So frustrating. Too many one hit kill weapons and supers. It's no fun when you can predict the outcome of the game after seeing the opening sequence and the loadout of each team.

That blows. I wonder if Nintendo does any work on putting like skill based multiplayer matching? I just read the white paper that was released by Activision on how they manage multiplayer, I had no idea how complicated it was. Good on them:

Couple of new demos on the eshop I tried.

Shadow of the Ninja reborn is excellent. It's a remake of an old game but done with Metal Slug level Visuals. Hard as nails too.

Gori, cuddly carnage you play as a cat on a skateboard/sword overboard and hack unicorns to death in a bloody rampage.

Controls well enough and is mildly entertaining. Did get a bit bored of the gameplay loop, but willing to give it a shot on sale.

Played the Blasphemous demo for like the 6th time. I kept trying it, deleting it and inexplicably coming back to it. Finally the combat clicked. Feels like a tougher Castlevania. Will buy eventually.

But the demo I liked the best was Natsumon, it's the first one released in the west of the Summer Vacation games.

As an anime fan, having a game which recreates that feeling of being a kid and going on adventures in the Japanese countryside, is enormously appealing.

There's 2 Shin Chan summer vacation games too I may get on a deep sale.

I play ranked matches, so yes, the matchmaking is somewhat skill based. There also seems to be an algorithm that makes sure each team consists of broadly the same mix of weapon types. It's just that within each 'type' there are subsets with wildly different stats. So what might seem balanced on paper could still result in a heavy advantage for one team.

You could argue that I should just chose a different weapon, but I've been playing with my weapon of choice for a very long time and it handles very differently from everything else. The reality is that I've pretty much reached the limit of what can be achieved with it. This is also made clear when you look at the stats of previus seasons, where the top player using the sale weaopn features pretty low in the top rankings.

I hear you. My wepon of choice in Splatoon is a roller. I just roll away while the others fight it out. At least I used to, I dropped NSO because the only reaons for it was Splatoon and I did not play enough to justify it.

Same, but I wasn't even playing Splatoon 3.

Owning an online multiplayer game whilst not having a paid online service blows.

Can't be assed ponying up for a new subscription, so Splatoon 3 is like a paperweight at this point. Meanwhile Splatoon 4 will get announced.

I couldn't even be bothered to pick up Splatoon 3. I feel like it came out too soon after 2. I currently am not paying for online services so there's really no point right now.

I remember a time when we could play Nintendo games online for free and it worked exactly the same as now. Ah, good times...

I'm really starting to feel old. I keep coming across new slang terms that have no idea what they mean. For instance, this headline from nintendolife.com:

"Catch-Up Crew: F-Zero X - "In First Place I Just Yeeted Myself Off The Course"

WTF is "yeeted"? It means "to throw" apparently. This is only the latest one. There have been so many others I've had to look up recently. LOL

Ravenprose gets a mention in the latest game under podcast. I surmised he is the only listener that will read my review of the Atari 2600 Ranger controller.

I considered buying that controller when it first came out.

not to rub salt in the wound, but "yeet" isn't even a new term. That's been around for like 8 or 9 years at least.

If it was free I could dip in and out of online games.

This weekend I played EA PGA Tour 23, Gran Turismo 7, Madden 24 and Mudrunner on PS5.

I bought Mudrunner today on PSN for $6. It is quite enjoyable so far, and with the music turned off, relaxing too. I can see myself playing this after work. Thanks for the recommendation, GG!
