Oh shit, just randomly completed the 6th and final (secret final) boss in Enter the Gungeon.
I had the blackhole gun and the membrane. Didn't even had to learn his attack patterns, just launched a black hole at him, then spammed with the shotgun.
Beat all 3 stages. Something of a miracle as I entered floor 6 with only 3 hearts and mostly no good guns.
I switched to the black hole gun and somehow beat the floor and had just enough ammo left to take down lich as well.
I thought the Gunslinger would unlock. Instead I now read I have to randomly be gifted some effect on one of the floors. It says you have a 20% chance of being given it. Which turns you into Paradox.
Then you have to beat Lich again. At which point you are transported back to floor 1 as the gunslinger and you have 1 run to beat the whole game again to permanently unlock lich.
After that you have to pay credits to use the character each time.
Fuck all that, I beat him. Only 1 secret floor left and that Metal Gear Solid boss.
I should mention in near 170 hours of gameplay I have not once been given the Paradox status effect. And I'm not going to do hundreds of more runs waiting for it to be randomly given to me.
I listen to his podcast every week, and I'd suspected he was sick for a while. The last 6 months he'd been a lot quieter. Lot less energy. Couple weeks ago a guest joked about him being sick and his co-host jumped in way too quickly insisting that it was only a joke.
Anyway this really sucks. Really sad to see him go.
The podcast mainly focuses on a lot of golden and silver age of hollywood. They'll bring on older guests who were actors back in the 60s and 70s, or maybe authors who've written books about the Marx Brothers or three stooges. Stuff like that. On occasion though they bring in comics or other people who just have an interest in those things as well, and those are actually probably the ones where Gilbert shines.
The bulk of the work on the show was done by his co-host frank. All the research and interviewing. And Gilbert will just come in with a joke and the introduction. However, when they bring on people he's friends with other comics, the shows take on an entirely different life.
Since he's been sick, they've been playing older episodes, so check out the one with Steven wright and Bob costas. Also if you dig deeper there's one he did with Jackie martling and Billy west, which is by far my favorite they ever did.
I'll have to check it out. I somehow thought he did a show with Adam Carrola.
No, Dennis Miller did a show with Carolla for a while. It might still be going on, but I'm not really sure. I used to like them both individually, but I didn't think they worked well together.
Speaking of Adam Carolla, you can listen to old episodes of Loveline with Adam and Dr. Drew here. https://superfangiovanni.com/
CBS won't publish the original episodes, but fans have collected and cleaned up old episodes and the archive for them is nearly complete. Definitely something I like to listen to every once in awhile.
So was he cool? All I've heard was he was not cool in real life. I'm not talking about the racism charges, but like, you know he did;t want to do anything with Ghostbusters... I need to be better informed.
Tried some of my purchases last night out of curiosity.
Children of Morta seems really good. It's one of those game where you tell within minutes that it's been made with love and care. The art is awesome too, screens and even video don't do it justice.
Detective Di Silk Rose murders is cool, DarkSide Detective style visuals, no voice acting. But lovely to see Asian architecture and settings in pixel art form.
Guard Duty is legit, but its a 4:3 bordered format which is annoying as one of the trailers is wide-screen.
Pixel art is great, fully voice acted and seems funny.
The game starts in the town of "Wrinkle Wood" which tells you what the humour is going to be like.

Couldn’t tell you. I enjoyed some of the comedy stuff he did and his role as Iago in Alladin. Never really kept up with stuff outside of that.

I wouldn't call him cool, unless you wanted to compare him to Fonzie. And by that I mean you could compare him to Fonzie now but not Fonzie in 1955. He's probably just as cool as Fonzie is today.
But I don't think it's something he ever aspired to. He was notoriously cheap, and pretty much into monster movies, the Marx brothers, and the three stooges. He was a weird guy that became a weird comedian. That pretty much says it all.
So I have a really stupid Link to the Past story, but it's one of those memories that's still stuck in my head to this day.
When I finally bought the game, it had been out for about two years, and I picked it up at one of those newfangled used video game stores that were starting to pop up. It didn't have the box or manual, and when I got it it came in a clear plastic case.
Shortly after I got the game, we went on vacation to Texas to visit family. One day The breakfast table I was eating Apple jacks with my uncle and there was a prize in the box. It was a sticker from link to the pastb which he tossed my way. I thought it was kind of bizarre that Apple Jacks was promoting a game that had already been out for about 2 years, but I took it all the same. Once I got home, I slapped it on the plastic case, and it stayed on there for the next decade.
So sure, not exactly the most exciting story in the world, but whenever I think about Link to the past I always think about the sticker that I got from a box of applejacks.
That's a fair point but it did taste pretty fresh if memory serves correct. Of course, that was 28 years ago so who knows if my memory is actually worth a damn.

Edit: 220hrs of play
God fucking dammit!
R.I.P. Gilbert Gottfried. 😢
He seems too young to have passed. Life is too short, guys.
Anyway this really sucks. Really sad to see him go.
Whats the name of the podcast?
Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast
I didn't know he had a podcast. I'm listening to one Gilbert did with Dick Van Dyke now.
The bulk of the work on the show was done by his co-host frank. All the research and interviewing. And Gilbert will just come in with a joke and the introduction. However, when they bring on people he's friends with other comics, the shows take on an entirely different life.

Happy 30th Anniversary to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Truly one of the greatest games of all time.

Maybe that box of cereal was two years old?
