I’ve started playing Devil May Cry from the HD Collection on the 360 again. I never played the second game so I’m looking forward to checking it out, in a morbid curiosity sort of way.

That's how I felt about it too...just to see the car crash. I wouldn't say it's terrible or anything...just really dull. Dante has zero personality. A classic case of having a different team working on the game who just didn't GET it. Saw a video about the game, and I learned that Kamiya didn't even know at the time they were making a second game...the guy in charge of the project came to him and asked for the assets for DMC1....he was shocked that he wasn't involved. Also I didn't know this; DMC actually started as Resident Evil 3. Not RE4 as I always thought.
That was a weird time period for Capcom...lots of average games around 2003. Glad they turned it around.

Halfway through Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness. Man, what a mess this game is. They say they had to rush it, yet they had literally 3 times as long to make this as they did the first 5 games. It should have been a hell of a lot better. The problem is, they tried too many dumb ideas that didn't work out, instead of just making a great TOMB raider game. Although I did finally just get to an actual tomb...so this could be cool.
This got me thinking about how bad 2003 sucked. Devil May Cry 2. Dino Crisis 3. THIS. The year of the disappointment. All three of those games right there should have been incredible. Some of the best of the era. But nope. That year was terrible. The worst year hands down since the turn of the century.
