OMG I finally made it out of the Octo Expansion and into Inkopolis, the final few sections were soooooooooo good.

Moving lasers to dodge, rising a jetpack to destroy beacons, sneaking past enemies with no weapons. Powering a giant lift past armed opposition.

Beyond anything in the preceding 80 stages. And the cutscenes, OMG, they finally made good on the promise of Splatoon. It was so good I was grinning ear to ear.

There's no doubt now, Splatoon 2 with the Octo Expansion is a hefty lump of awesome single player content, even disregarding everything else. The series has so much potential too, the gameworld itself is so interesting. Even just looking around and analying the artwork and levels, spotting clues to the culture. Or the history, the great war, the underground dimensions. And they really fleshed out the two main characters in the expansion. You really feel like part of the team when you watch the credits roll on by. And visually the expansion looks better than the main game too.

Just beat the expansion myself. It was definitely great fun and well worth the €20 they're charging for it. It could have done with an actual new boss battle though. I second GG's statements, it's a great expansion and with it Splatoon2 is worth it just for single player alone. Now off to finish the remaining levels I didn't do the first time around.

The final 'boss' also reminded me a lot of Bayonetta's in its appearance. I found that to be amusing.

How did you beat the boss when you're in the baller? You can't freaking see when the fence is behind you? And have you guys beat that defend the orb stage with waves of enemies yet?

Yeah, the defend the orb with waves of enemies was something I did early on. I didn't find it too difficult as you could take many of them out the moment they dropped in from squidjump.  I don't think I've done the boss in the baller stage yet.

I really didn't think many levels were all that difficult. Challenging yes, but not insanely difficult.

Which weapon did you use for the orb stage?

Anyone done Matchmaster Station? I did the easy match the shape stage, then went into this one and just stared with stunned silence at what they wanted me to do. It's shock and awe. Some stages are pretty easy, most are moderately challenging and some are crazy.

More Octopath Traveler previews

https://www.dailystar.co.uk/tech/ga...are-in-for-Nintendo-Switch-s-next-MASSIVE-hit

From our 20-or-so hours with the game so far, we are happy to say that Octopath Traveler could be an instant classic: a true RPG gem in the Switch's already gleaming crown.

With mechanical elements that cherry-pick the best bits from Shin Megami Tensei's 'Press Turn' system, Final Fantasy's class-based setups and Chrono Trigger's multi-faceted world map, Octopath Traveler has every chance of being one of the best RPGs available on any platform right now, let alone Switch.

It's slightly too soon to make a definitive recommendation, but Octopath Traveler certainly seems to be living up to the buzz. Gamers who aren't particularly thrilled the JRPG genre might not find too much to get excited about, but players who fondly remember the 16-bit era will be stunned with how well the old-school formula translates into a modern medium.

I went ahead and pre-ordered Octopath Traveler. Can't see myself not liking the game based on the demos.

Also ordered the Pearl and Marina amiibo set. At this point I've spent almost as much on Splatoon amiibo as I have on the actual games. I regret nothing.

Well, except for the now extortionate prices on Callie and Marie amiibo. Should have got them when they released.

Huh? I didn't even know England had already played? Well, at least it'll be a good match for Bronze.
