I think the news of upgraded xboxes and playstations absolutely sucks. Zero point other than to piss off your existing base...just launch REAL new consoles in two years instead of this nonsense. And this isn't going to change anything in terms of popularity.
I will upgrade my PC to a GTX 1080 instead.
VR isn't going to be anything special on PS4 either way...this is just Sony trying to beat everyone to the punch regardless of quality. Again, should have waited two years and launched a real PS5 with a VR strategy from the get go.
If only there was an Elebits sequel that looked like this.

I think they both want to be on the avantgarde of the VR revolution. It's no different then PS2 doubling as a DVD player, save for the fact that VR might just not take off at all. If they can cement themselves as a key player for VR in the eye of the public, they'll reap the rewards later.
.On the other hand if it doesn't pan out all we're left with is a precedent of itterative hardware launches, which brings the whole thing dangerously close to PC gaming territory and possibly the transition of consoles from a closed platform to a service akin to Steam.
I also feel that there's a difference between the (suposed) propositions of both Sony and MS. The PS4K seems to be a small update, like the N3DS, while the Scorpio seems to be much, much more powerfull than the Xbone, possibly creating a marked divide in the userbase.
Interesting times ahead.
I have a feeling that through back channels (AMD) either Sony or MS heard that the other would be launching a new console and its specs and that started them doing it too. Feels like one-up-manship taken too far.
What happens in the future, new consoles come out, one a bit better than the other - don't worry about it, we'll have a new version in a year or two?

I hear the XB1 is 1.34 tfp, PS4 is 1.84 tfp.
PS4K is said to be around 4tfp which is around twice as powerful as PS4.
XB Scorpio is said to be 6 tfp, which is like having a PS4k strapped to an original PS4. And that makes it 4 and a half x the OG XB1
This is all becoming very confusing. And now we hear that Microsoft is having some big partnership with Rift too?
I hope Winphone's aren't a dying breed. I've quite enjoyed mine. While they don't sport the most extensive app store, there were good apps for all the basic feature's you'd require, often created in-house. I also liked how MS themselves kept an eye out for minimum specs, meaning you could buy a low end model on the cheap and still be guaranteed reasonable performance. Here's hoping MS isn't pulling out of mobile phone hardware, but instead is seeking to rebrand it to match their surface line of tablets. I'd be very interested to see what a surface phone would be like.
You know what would be ace? If the 'Scorpio' turns out to just be a PC.

I think MS had a number of models at all levels of specs and made sure everything worked, albeit not as fast on all models. They may move to have only one or a small handful of devices instead. I hope they stay in the business.

But shit, these guys all need to stop flip flopping. MS said they weren't releasing an upgrade....now they are? How can you believe anything they say? Plus all the crap they went back on in regards to the Xbone launch....its good to be reactionary to fans and competition to a degree, but they take it WAY over the line.
If all this is true, they cannot screw the existing fanbases by making games that won't play on the old machines...buuut, I bet they will when it comes to VR games! VR will be crap on the base consoles and only a little less so on these new models. That's what this is all about. Lol so lame. Rushing the technology too soon...let the fucking PC do it for a few years like its supposed to.
Let's hope NX's gimmick is a compelling one I guess.

The Scorpios specs put it at like 4.5x better than XB1 and it might be heavily integrated with VR so that scenario is better than just a slightly more powerful box. I guess.
Sony is locking devs in regard to 4k vs PS4 vanilla features and mandates. Whether MS will allow for Scorpio exclusives or not, I dont know.
Yeah but see, its like they're almost making a next gen Xbox but they don't want to go all the way. I hate that idea.
Like I said, just release an XBOX 4 and a PS5 in 2018 and call it a day. What, are their sales not good enough with the current machines? Fucking assclowns.
This all just pushes me further towards the PC which is fine for me....if I was still a young kid who was more of a console only guy who didn't have money to build a PC though, I would be pissed. I feel bad for those guys.
I'm all for Xbox releasing everything on PC, now I have an Xbox one, yay! As for the hardware shit I already commented on it, fuck updates. Consoles have generations, they should always have them.
I'm pretty sure your PC doesn't feature enough grills to qualify as a bonafide Xbone.
