2001 was the magic year for PS2. It coasted on its name for a year then MGS2 and GTA3 hit. There was nothing, nothing at all like GTA at the time and only one console to play it on. Then Vice City hit, as well as SA a couple years later. Those are the games that made PS2 the phenomenon that it became.
I was tempted to play through Journey again but changed my mind.
I have it on good authority that Knights of the Old Republic 2 got that update because Disney themselves have been going over the SW titles and were amazed at the quality of the KOTOR series, and recognized that The Sith Lords was missing key content that would make it a better game and demanded that it be fixed in preparation for future entries in the series.
This all came directly from my mind, so take it with a grain of salt.
Like I said, it could have easily launched at the same time as Cube and Xbox and we wouldn't have missed shit.
Wise choice.
New IP can't be judged until the third game - Square Enix head
Well tickle me pink....I'm liking Square's new head boss more every goddamn day. This guy is a huge improvement over that last idiot.
Now...where the fuck are Vagrant Story 2 &3?
History is repeating.
So this fuckwad wants you to buy 3 games in the series before you can actually judge it?
Some people.... honestly.
Oh....that's what he meant? I thought he was saying the COMPANY can't judge the worth of a franchise until the 3rd game. In that case.....ugh.
I didn't read it, but that was what I took from the news title. Let's look:
So we can expect 3 game series from every new Square IP now?
As I said, where the fuck are Vagrant Story 2 & 3?
That was hands down one of the best PS1 games ever. And it was set up for a sequel at the end.
That is true.
All I know is thee PS2 is the only console I ever had to buy 3 times, and it was the system where Final Fantasy went from being my favorite series to something I hated. I'm still bitter.
I'm disappointed in you. You know better than to play that mess.
By the second game it's not a new IP anymore.
My story. I was a strong adherant to GC+XB, it was a stellar combo, but both consoles got toasted by the longevity of the PS2. At the time of the XB's abortion (and there is no other word for it, see the XBOX Unlocked podcast with Sheamus Blackley for confirmation) I had more games on XB than PS2. I had a policy of buying multiplats on XB. By the time they stopped making games for PS2 the tally on my collection was XB: 186 games, PS2: 309 games.
It looks like a smart phone. Not cool.
Your opinion is wrong Rob.
But also, I don;t know why anyone would play that game a second time. I tend to leave games like that and Last of Us to one playthrough. Maybe in 30 years I'll play it again just to see.
I approve of the return to the traditional Gamingeek sig banners.
Rise of Tomb Raider PS2 and PC in 2016 The "timed Xbox exclusive" won't be exclusive for all that long.
I take back everything I said about the PS2. It really is the best console ever after all.
Its such a shame the Cube and XBOX both got cut short and never really hit their potential. Even Cube technically lasted until 2006, lets be real....for the most part the Cube died before the XBOX did. The XBOX was weird because like you said, they cut its head off....in a way it was an impressive, aggressive transition from that to 360. They effectively just carried over the games and momentum from one to the other, in the blink of an eye. I get why they did it, but it definitely sucked that it happened that way.
