I am going to start streaming Outlast on PS4. I am going to begin playing it in a few minutes. I am just going to stream throughout the night so check in if you want to see me play a game that probably scares the shit out of me. No mic, I will be checking for comments every few minutes.
GME watched me play Outlast, he enjoyed it, its a really fun game to watch I think as its like watching some crazy first person scary movie.
It has penis. When I first noticed I did the "thats a penis" reaction. Two guys nude who just taunt you. I'm calling them the weiner brothers, such assholes.
As for the game itself, HOLY SHIT thats some freaky shit. Wow a game has not scared me like this in a long time, no I do not want this on the rift, I would die. As I play I am getting much more confident as I understand how the game works. For instance I get how the enemy AI works now, they could be pretty stupid. Dying is almost beneficial as it lets you work the situation with trial and error plus if you reach a checkpoint before you die if you die you start from the checkpoint with the badguy gone.
So it has some issues but the premise is so unique and original that I love it. I jumped out of my chair twice. I had plenty of "NOPE" moments. It's just damn creepy. Anyone looking for some serious horror gaming check this out.
Some are speculating that new Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will move the company away from producing hardware such as the Xbox One. However, head of Microsoft Studios Phil Spencer says that Nadella is very favorable toward the gaming division.
In another tweet, Spencer mentions that he thinks that Satya is a "good leader and good guy." He also added that Microsoft "understands Xbox is a very important consumer brand for us."
Sascha Segan at PCMag makes that case that Nadella will make Microsoft look more like Google than Apple in the coming years. As the former head of the Cloud and Enterprise group, he's more interested in business software than consumer hardware like Xbox. He points at Nadella's first letter to Microsoft employees as proof.
"This is a critical time for the industry and for Microsoft. Make no mistake, we are headed for greater places — as technology evolves and we evolve with and ahead of it. Our job is to ensure that Microsoft thrives in a mobile and cloud-first world," Nadella said in the letter.
Segan believes that Nadella will ultimately spin off Xbox as an independent company. He further argues that Microsoft will shed PC hardware business like keyboards and mice.
Still, Nadella's mission statement is far from specific. You can read it as a declaration of focus on mobile devices and software if you'd like. There's plenty of ammo for the counter-argument, though. Take this paragraph from the letter:
I believe over the next decade computing will become even more ubiquitous and intelligence will become ambient. The coevolution of software and new hardware form factors will intermediate and digitize — many of the things we do and experience in business, life and our world. This will be made possible by an ever-growing network of connected devices, incredible computing capacity from the cloud, insights from big data, and intelligence from machine learning.
Xbox One's integration with smartphones and tablets certainly fits Nadella's visions of "an ever-growing network of connected devices." It also leverages several Microsoft software products like Skype, Bing and Internet Explorer. What's more, "computing capacity from the cloud" was a prime selling point for the XB1. Microsoft argued in the past that the cloud will make the console more powerful over time. You can argue that the Xbox One fits Nadella's vision for the company quite well.
Another reason people were expecting Microsoft to get rid of the Xbox division was Stephen Elop. Elop, a former Nokia executive, will be joining Microsoft soon to oversee all devices, including Xbox, Surface and Windows Phone. When Elop was being considered for the CEO, he suggested he would sell off the Xbox division to focus the company. However, Spencer isn't worried about him, either.
cant type much, wrist hurts shinen r saying that bcause of wii u's larger ram, loading times for multiplat games should be much shorter as u can cache games in the ram in advance. considering most multiplats dont even use the ram 4 higher res textures and still have regular/slower load times these devs are basically not taking advantage of it at all

I think the spin-off of Xbox is likely what will happen. Makes sense given Nadella's philosophy much more than just ceasing production at some point. Of course, I think a large part of that depends on how it continues to sell. I haven't really been keeping up with the sales post-launch. I know I see units of the Xbone everywhere. That doesn't necessarily means it's doing bad though, but I'm fairly certain it's not setting the world on fire like the PS4 is doing.
Christofer Sundberg, the creator of the Just Cause series, has said that triple-A game development has failed to evolve alongside technology.
"It’s really not healthy at the moment," the Avalanche Studios founder, who is currently working on Mad Max, told GameSpot. "Games have evolved, technology has evolved but as businesses we’re still stuck where we were 15 years ago. As budgets grow, risks increase.
"The publishers are nervous because they have to project a game being a massive hit three years into the future and the developers are frustrated because they need to be flexible to every move the publishers make. It’s impossible to make everyone happy in the current equation.
"Very few traditional $60 games make any money, and what used to make sense doesn't any more. Publishers and developers very rarely see a return of investment from a five to eight hour long game.
"The investments in a triple-A game these days are huge and even if everyone of those two million people bought a copy each, most big games would not break even if they were next-gen exclusives."

I don't think that what Shin'en is alluding can be applied to all types of games. The only way you could load stuff in advance, thus shortening load times, is if you were playing something very linear like a corridor shooter. From the moment that the gamer has any input on what needs to be loaded next, the possibility of front loading is gone.

not exactly, u put down enviromennt markers (only theh gam can c) like flagpoles and whichever the player is closest 2 can pre-load. also in multiplats which aren't using higher res textures theres a huge chunk of ram going un-used which they could pre-dump data too.
splinter cell 4 example could easily use it, it doesn't. lego city bafflingly decides 2 load the whole open world at once. nfs loads are super quick and there r no loads in the open world either.
David Beckham came to my neighborhood soccer park, it looks like a zombie movie outside, cars everywhere, masses of people herding in one direction, tons of helicopters overhead.

Too much fiber?
Dude, some control.
Outlast is scary as shit, OMG. If you are watching when the shit hits the fan I press R1 to run when its L1 and R1 lowers my camera, I panic.

I hope Nadella moves them away from the hardware business. That way I could pick up a Surface Pro 2 heavily discounted
