Nintendo's sales and stock graph from between GC and now apes each other perfectly. Wii and DS were abberations and then everything went back to how it was before. I'm not sure who the people were/are who expected them to repeat Wii like success again.

It shows that even with a vastly reduced userbase in comparison it can still do relatively well with the right content. And why aren't there more Banjo, Pikmin and Mario, Lego City type games? Look past the surface and they're charming and excellently designed, in fact those are the sorts of games I would rather play. If 3rd parties don't want to make Mass Effect 4 then how about a decent Skylanders type game, but a new property? Or throw Rachet on there or whatever.
Also, don't look past PC sales, it's acheiving that magnificent 1% along with Wii U skus, so why does no one ever pick up on that? If Ubisoft are saying as they have, that a Wii U sku costs $1-1.5 million per port, it might not be a case of it having to sell bucketloads in order for the port to be justified. Just that it makes it's money back. Zombi U hasn't, but it wasn't a port so all its production cost lay with U.
You would think that if costs were that low Nintendo would swing some money their way but we know that Nintendo doesn't do that sort of thing - whilst the platform holders;competition does pay significant marketing costs towards multiplatform games. I'm not saying it's right or wrong but it's something N needs to look at.
Yup this system should have the kind of games you mentioned. The pc stuff is pointless cause no one buys retail PC games and they don't count steam.

I'm sick of hearing about Nintendo's warchest. I've been hearing this shit since the N64....ooooh Nintendo has a giant warchest they can use to compete anytime! THEN FUCKIN' DO IT ASSFUCK!
Its like the girl who talks about how great her tits are but never lets you drink of their milk.
I guess warchest means they have an ample supply of resources to fall back on when the going gets rough. There's no need to worry if the company posts losses for a long-ass time, they have more than enough cash reserves to make up for said losses while still doing their thing and get back on their feet.
It's not about competing, it's to ensure financial security and to allow them to take risks. It uses some of this money to make money, for instance its foreign exchange currency dealings have often offset quarterly losses and let them still profit. And a lot of this war chest is reinvested in the research and design phase of new hardware. They are savers though, sort of like the story about the rodent that stores his nuts for the winter. You can't eat those nuts, those nuts are salty.
