Hmmm I'll have to look into that. I really don't mind stuff like that, but the fact that they're sending me notices for stuff I already have makes me wonder how much thought they're putting into the ads, and that's what bothers me.
I must have disabled ads when I first got my Wii U, because I haven't seen any other than the ones on the eShop.
I just got that and they auto downloaded this Karoke shit.
Are you sure you have the latest firmware which enabled auto downloads?
I'm absolutely sure I have the latest firmware. But I don't want those ads either, lol.
Digital Foundry vs. Vita Remote Play
"Whether we're talking about image quality, latency, frame-rate, it's a a less than ideal experience"
I read this, not surprised after reading the gaf thread. But there are a lot of PS4 owners who disagree with Eurogamer. They provide stats though which are hard to argue against. Seems like remote play will be great for slower third person games like ACreed. But for shooters/fighters etc, depends on how hectic they are I guess. It seems to act better or worse from title to title. If I already owned a vita, cool, but it's an expensive bet to make otherwise, for me. It also says vitas lack of inputs vs DS4 means they divide the rear touch panel into 4 for button replacements.
I've been playing Pikmin 3 with the Upad only yesterday. It seems that the analogue controls are not as precise as they were on the Gamecube games, as I'm having difficulty moving the curser to the exact spot I need; an issue I never had on Pikmin 1 & 2. Don't tell me I need to buy a Wii remote/Nunchuk now to play this game properly?
It's not just ads it's actual software usually with free trial periods. It downloads in the background and installs in the background so it saves you a lot of hassle sometimes but if you have a slow connection and want to use your laptop it can suck your internet to a crawl.
Do you mean on the upad screen or tv? There are no second stick swarm controls, it's 10x better with wii remote which is why I can't play this game offscreen.
TV. Yeah, I also noticed the lack of swarm control, which really sucks balls, because I used that feature all the time in the first two games.
I find it annoying that the Pikmin always return to the exact place you gave them an order from rather than where they are supposed to end up. I keep expecting them to be near a bridge or the ship, but they're out jerking off in the middle of nowhere..
Most annoying thing of all: "LOOK AT THE Wii U GAMEPAD SCREEN" Why the fuck do I have to look at the tiny screen to read text messages instead of my nice large HDTV? Seriously, Nintendo. Why?
I am enjoying the game overall, though. I just wish Nintendo would stick some of their "innovations" up their asses.
It was aight.
Also played CoD: Ghosts and some Mario & Luigi Dream Team.
You can see them on the map. When you have more characters the idea is to split them up to different parts of the map and multitask. Which is where the upad comes into it's own. Still, get a wii remote, it feels sucky without it IMO.
OMG. I borrowed my sisters Wii Remote and Nunchuk (again) just so I can play Pikmin 3 properly. And it does control a LOT better than with the Upad, but why does it keep telling me to look at the Upad?! I'm not using the Upad, Nintendo! I'm using a different fucking controller! I'm not going to try using both at the same time. That's just stupid. I knew this Upad nonsense was really going to piss me off someday. I just want to play the fucking game I paid for without all of this controller/screen swapping bullshit. They think this is innovative? Really? *facepalm*
I finished this again:
Then started playing this again, but with all the expansion packs that I haven't checked out until now:
^ I should have bought the Mass Effect Trilogy instead of Pikmin 3. Cheaper and probably less frustrating to play.
You'll need to use both later for better performance. And it is innovative for splitting characters and assigning location points etc. You really only need to look at the upad for instructions and a bit of text. Just leave the pad on the stand near you or on your lap.
I shouldn't have to do that just to play a game, GG. Nintendo fucked up with the Upad. Plain and simple. I'm going to finish the games I have for it (probably not Pikmin 3, though), and ditch the damn thing for a PS4 early next year. At least I gave the U a shot, which is a lot more than most people will give it.
Can I have your Wii U?
