Fuuu, I just read Blezinski's take on DRM. Godamn.
Yeah. It's great to be a multi-millionaire, retired, with the only work you have done is making video games. He's a child.
I've seen the marketing budget for some of these games. I mean, hell how hard is it to just be sensible about these things? And if they made more smaller, unique games they wouldn't have to do the whole eggs in basket approach waiting for that one mega bomb that kills them off.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
DON'T PLAY THE LAST OF US.
There's an autosaving bug. When you go to your pause screen it says: Autosaving... Please Wait. It won't let you save. It won't let you restart your encounter. It won't let you quit to the main menu... and it is MOST DEFINITELY ---NOT--- saving your progress. I just lost over an hour and a half of gameplay. Naughty Dog is aware and is working on a patch, but no telling when that is coming.
UPDATE:
Apparently, bug doesn't happen if you are playing offline. Sign out of PSN before playing Single Player to avoid.
Fuck, I JUST BOUGHT A COPY!
Also, greetings from Los Angeles! I meant to get back onto here beforehand, but E3's been pretty goddamned nuts. Remind me next year to stay at home at watch the trailers, kay? Much less exhausting than travelling all over the LA Convention Center for meetings and waiting in lines for stuff.
HOMER!! <3
What up dude?
Also, man Mario 3D World is a BLAST. Ditto Transistor.
Awesome! Where can we see your coverage again? Hoping to go next e3.
Loved Bastion, cannot wait for Transistor!
See any other hints of Super Mario Bros. 2 in 3D World? Snifits, Shy Guys? Birdo? Wart?
newgameplus.tv - none of it is up yet (the dudes with the footage are still in the US), but should be up within the next few weeks or so.
It's worth doing at least once! It's tiring as all hell, but you get a lot out of it. And there's plenty of people to meet, run into or see rushing to appointments.
For instance, I happened to see Kaz Yamamuchi and TRANSLATOR GUY, meet Michael Pachter and some of the Supergiant guys.
Unfortunately not. All I saw was the level design of 3D Land with the MP of New Super. Real great. Also, the Cat Powerup is fucking crazy awesome.
I heard Pachter is a really nice guy, true?
translator guy is still around!!! I rather interview him.
Yeah, got a good impression of Pachter. Didn't come across as a dick.
Also dude, my jaw was dropped when I saw him. Was very tempted to rush over to him and be all "HOLY SHIT ITS YOU! YOU STILL EXIST!". Well, not really like that, but you get the idea. Was totally surprised as well.
With DLC becoming a huge standard in the video game industry, particularly for fighting games, many are no doubt wondering if Smash Bros. producer Masahiro Sakurai plans to take a similar approach. Sakurai told me in an interview that his sole focus right now is making the best possible game he can, and that currently he has no plans for DLC.
"At the current time we have no plans," Sakurai told me. "I consider my job at this point, and my main responsibility, to make the Wii U and 3DS versions the best and the fullest experience possible. That said, once finished, it's the type of thing we could take into consideration, but for now, you could consider DLC as not being in the cards."
Sakurai also confirmed to me that tripping, a significant and frustrating element from Super Smash Bros. Brawl had been removed. The series creator described the gameplay direction of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and Super Smash Bros. 3DS as being somewhere between the faster, more competitive style of Melee and the slower, more casual design of Brawl. No doubt that will be good news for those wanting a better compromise.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
I'll be playing offline at work this weekend, so no worries unt later.
The Multiplayer is FANTASTIC, but I have no idea what I am doing! They don't explain it --AT ALL-- in the digital manual... This one's gonna last a while, still! That seems to be unaffected by the bug --BUT-- if you play Online, then go to play Single Player, sign out first!
Thank You cutie Naughty Dog dude!
Aonuma on triforce quest:
"As for the Triforce quest, it was basically a process of finding maps and then following that map to another location, but I think what some people didn’t like is that sometimes you would find a map and it would take you to another map. It was a series of steps you had to take in order to get to the Triforce. Maybe people felt like they were getting the runaround a little bit. I thought that whole process of adventuring was kind of fun, but it also did take a while to get to some of the maps.
We’re planning on streamlining that a little bit. Maybe you’ll get a map, and it’ll lead you to the Triforce and then you’ll get it and move on to the next one. The longer it took to get to your destination, the more disconnected, I think, the players felt. It’s not that we’re cutting out all of those steps, but we will streamline them."
