I'm still at the beach do it'll be Friday evening before I pick it up.
Turns out they're doing an early opening instead. 9AM. I'm fine with that. I am more of a morning person anyway!
I probably have to wait till say to get it.
So it still plays like Pac-man? Lame. Taizo Hori deserves his own Dig Dug Championship Edition DX game. Make it happen, Namco!
Reggie defends Retro making another Donkey Kong Country 'it’s going to be up to the team to decide what they want their next project to do, obviously'
Hey, Retro. Reggie says you can decide to make anything you want. Decide to make a new Wave Race as you next project. DO IT.
I don't believe one word Reggie says.
There is no way they let Retro make whatever they want. No way in hell.
Just played the first half hour of Last of Us. I don't know what deal Naughty Dog has made with the devil, but it is worth it.
While I was at the game store paying $99.99 for Last of Us (ahem), I asked if Animal Corssing was street-breakable. Nope. So lame. It comes out tomorrow down here.
The last time I paid $100 for a game it was on the SNES.
In a way, Nintendo are the ones responsible for sending Microsoft down their current path of self destruction....at least partially.
Kinect was a response to Nintendo's dominance in the motion control/ casual arena. Now Microsoft is doing a bunch of shady ass shit with their ever watchful camera that likely would have never been if Nintendo made a normal controller. Kind of ironic, Alanis Morrisette.
Did you guys read the article there is an interesting bit near the end:
Kotaku: Were you saying, did Retro choose to make the Donkey Kong Country game? Was it their decision?
Fils-Aime: I wasn’t in the room when they talked to Mr. Tanabe and Mr. Takahashi, but I just spent some time with Michael Kelbaugh, the president of that studio, and he talked about how they were excited to go right from finishing up Donkey Kong Country Returns into this next project.
Deflection. What if it was Retros decision to make more DKC, would everyone still be super pissed or are we assuming Nintendo forced them to at gunpoint? I get the impression that the two Nintendo producers that work with Retro have final say, but that is probably also due to Pacini and Matthews leaving too. My impression was that Kelburgh patched everything back together and got DKC Wii working, from the old interviews.
I played a good chunk more of Arkham City side missions, I am done with it. The side missions... I just feel no imperative to continue with them, I track down a bunch of guys beat them up, interogate someone which involves a gut punch and "I knew you'd crack" byline. Then there is some riddler stuff which is more interesting but not enough to continue. Without any decent story or cutscenes to bookend these missions it just shows how shallow and meaningless the gameplay can be.
I think those guys left Retro as a result of not having more freedom to do what they want in the first place. There was an interview with them recently where they said as much.
No matter who decided on DK though, either way I am disappointed because that is something Nintendo could do in Japan. A more Metroid Prime style experience is something unique to Retro that Nintendo Japan would never attempt. Plus, I just fucking like Metroid more than Donkey Kong. lol
True, but as we both said in the past a DK64 style game by Retro that was basically Prime in design but 3rd person platformer would be fricking awesome.
Finally, after all these years we find out what happened to those missing Wind Waker dungeons:
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker's unused dungeons were implemented into other Zelda games, Wind Waker HD pacing tweaked
"Quite honestly, those dungeons we removed we used in other games, so we can't use them in this version!"
So it sounds like no new dungeons in Wind Waker. That still begs the question then what the hell is going to happen with the momentum killing Triforce hunt. I've been a long time since I've played the game, so I don't exactly remember how it was implemented, but I've wondered if maybe they can shuffle it around so that you start picking up the fragments of the Triforce earlier and it all doesn't have to be done at once towards the end of the game as it was.
Joystiq are saying Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8 are 1080p and 60 FPS
We already have confirmation of 1080p Smash. Kamiya said via twitter that he would "try" to make B2 60fps
Cliff Bleszinski should focus on making his Gears of War games, and keeping his annoying mouth shut.
Ah, I had it in the interview, they are reworking it plus the ship has a tool so it can move twice as fast because there are no load time issues like on GC where the game streamed everything.
This comparison shows the game is clearly improved graphically. It may not be a massive overhaul but the additions make it looks much better.
He is an insanely humorless prick.
I think Cliffy is going to move on to mobile gaming where his talents will be appreciated for $.99 a download.
