So the only thing to come out of this is Yakuza 1 and 2? Jesus...
Yakuza 1 and 2 is really cool..definitely grab that but what about the rest of the series? And is this only in Japan? I'd expect them to make Shenmue 3 for Wii U before Yakuza...that's an odd move considering Yakuza has always been Playstation exclusive.
Pikmin 3 looks really good...August 4th about fucking time, they took WAAAAAAAAAY too long to release this game.
Wonderful 101 in September....no footage shown. This was supposed to be a launch game. lol
Resident Evil yes we know.
No Splinter Cell footage? Deus Ex? Watch Dogs?
They could have showed this but all the stuff they showed was from Japanese companies. I guess they didn't reach out that far abroad. All the stuff launching for Fall onwards will be at E3 in less than a month in another N.Direct. They already promised, Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart and Smash Bros playable.
And we should see more of X and perhaps Retros game.
I would seriously hope we see Retro's game...how fucking long does it take? Its time to rise.
I think we'll see it soon. It looks like Nintendo will be doing these things weekly until E3 so they're going to be trickling out information from now until then.
Oops, I forgot about the Sonic stuff. Other than that it's a pretty poor showing. Was hoping for something more. Yakuza 5 would have been huge and exactly the sort of thing they're after. (Not in the West, though.)
It will be even better without Iwata's annoying ass voice.
At this point I half expect them to show DKCR 2.
Well they did specifically say that this N.Direct was just for spring/summer stuff and we already knew Pikmin 3 and SC were Summer releases. We got W101 confirmed for summer and a new exclusive Sonic. Not bad, but I guess it would be pointless to reveal more when E3 is a few weeks away. What's with the left field Bayonetta 2/Yakuza port stuff about?
We should have Wii U Fatal Frame (Nintendo owns the rights, right?), Endless Ocean 3, Disaster Week of Crisis
WTF?
REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The next title in SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog franchise will be exclusive to Nintendo’s Wii U home console and Nintendo 3DS portable system. Nintendo Global President Satoru Iwata announced the details of a new partnership with SEGA during a new Nintendo Direct video announcement today. Sonic Lost World is a new action platforming game, and more information about it will be announced before the E3 2013 video game trade show begins on June 11.
Nintendo 3DS News
SEGA Game Gear: Games from the classic hand-held system are headed to the Virtual Console service. These include:
A Legendary Sale: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons arrive on the Virtual Console service for Nintendo 3DS on May 30. Because playing the games together unlocks so much additional content, Nintendo is offering them for just $4.99 each for the first three weeks after launch. After this promotion expires, the games will be available for $5.99 each.
On Retro. I mean that is what differentiates Nintendo. They are known for killing projects even in the final stages if it doesn't measure up. So they may still be giving Retro's project the once over.
However, it is disconcerting, you have to wonder if the core of Retro has gone the way of Rare.
Wow.
I heard that Fifa 13 U was just Fifa 12 and that it was missing a lot features from the other versions?
Retro have made 4 triple A games in succession. Rare started a long and steady decline that began with Starfox Adventures and only got worse till they eventually ended up doing Kinect Sports games. Most of the staff left and bemoaned the MS buyout while the Stamper brothers rolled about in their money pit laughing their asses off.
Yeah, I know all that. I guess I was making the association becuase of DK and that's the only thing Retro has done since Metroid. And all the staff leaving as well.
One thing you can give Nintendo is that they know how to squeeze greatness out of developers who never produced much previously. Even if the core Retro talent is gone I'm sure they'd still crank out a good game.
True. I think Nintendo is a tremendous systems company. I mean, they seem to have an unparalleled ability to have quality systems in place that can turn the efforts front-line workers into whatever investment they determine is suitable for a particular game. From a business management perspective, I'd love to know their internal workings.
Seems SEGA has another Sonic Nintendo exclusive up their sleeves, to be revealed later.
New partnership for three exclusive titles as publisher continues transition to PC market
Nintendo
Sega Europe has handed the publishing and distribution rights to the next three Sonic the Hedgehog titles exclusively to Nintendo.
The move follows Sega's continued focus on the PC market with hits like Football Manager, Total War and Company of Heroes - and compliments Nintendo's portfolio of family-friendly titles. The deal includes Sonic Lost World, Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games and one other game to be revealed at a later date.
"Sega have chosen to exclusively partner with Nintendo to distribute or publish the next three Sonic the Hedgehog titles throughout Europe and Australia," Jurgen Post, COO of Sega Europe, confirmed to GamesIndustry International.
The deal is an extension of the publishing duties Nintendo has taken on for previous Olympic Games titles. Sega US will still publish Lost World in the region.
"This is a strategic partnership that does not affect our existing distribution network across these territories and with whom we are looking forward to working with on the upcoming releases of Total War: Rome II and Company of Heroes 2," he added.
Sega now has three main pillars of business after a restructuring process that took place last year. As well as the PC business, the company is also building its mobile and digital efforts, sidelining the more traditional boxed console market.
Yeah three games, two announced, so one more to go.
No.
