It's okay for 2013 to be better than 2012, but does it have to embarrass it like this?

I never liked that Wada guy who was running Square for the last 13 years. Every interview I read with him, he seemed more crazy than Hiroshi Yamauchi....you could tell he had no clue what the hell he was doing with a developer like Square and took them in the complete wrong direction. I'm willing to bet most of their defected talent left because of him.

Jesus, it's not like we are registered as friends on Miiverse or anything..... I've only known him for like 8 plus years.

Sony has the PS4 action game primal carnage: Genesis at the game developers Conference announced. The game will be a mixture of sequences with linear gameplay and exploring in an open game world.

Is an island on the Brachiosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Raptor, Dilophosaurier, and many other dinosaurs roam. The player is a person on this island and explored the island from the person.

Primal carnage: Genesis is a story-based game that - is told in episodic like the walking dead. The Dino game running on the Unreal engine 4 and has no release date yet.

Screens up top

Primal Carnage: Genesis is an episodic, first-person game powered by Unreal Engine 4 - and it's headed to PS4.

The dinosaur-themed title will feature "a mix of linear gameplay and open-world exploration from a first-person human perspective". According to Sony's announcement, "next-generation rendering is key to selling the lush island environment".

Developed by Lukewarm Media, it follows the PC-only release of Primal Carnage in 2012. The 2012 title was an asymmetrical multiplayer shooter, while Genesis is described as an immersive, story-driven experience, and will be released episodically in a similar fashion to The Walking Dead.

No release window has been confirmed and the game is in its early stages of development.

On the topic of episodic storytelling, Lukewarm Media game director Aston Andersen said the decision to go with episodic content was difficult, but fits the nature of the title. "The episodic method ended up being the clear victor due to the versatile nature of creating a story episode by episode.

"It allows us a lot of wiggle room, because one unique advantage of the episodic model is the ability for player feedback from the first episode to affect the development of the following episodes. Do players want to see more of a certain mechanic? Maybe people didn't like playing a certain segment of the game, thus steering our focus elsewhere."

Square Enix notes 'weak sales of big console titles'

So Criterion has raised my expectations for Ubisoft's Watchdogs Wii U version. I know the next gen versions will obviously look better, but the U version better have high resolution textures like NFS. My body is ready. In a slower paced game it should look a lot better too.

Anyway, warp pipe?

I won't be getting Lego City for a few more weeks. I've been reading the GAF thread a lot. Seems overall very positive, check it out.

jmls1121 said:

Its really a shame that this game is getting incorrectly labeled as "just another Lego game" in some corners of the gaming press. I have never had this much fun in an open world game. I am completely blown away, guys.

Outrigger 888 said:

This game is about to pass red dead as my favorite open world game of all time, no joke.  Just finished apollo island and this game keeps delivering, the shit the guy was saying over the intercom was hilarious. If you own a wii u go buy this, its wiiu's best game.

Hokahey said:

This game just gets better as it goes and is overall a better game than I'd have suspected. I think as word of mouth spreads it will have some legs to it and have an impact on wiiu sales. After Mario this is the must have wiiu title.

B-Dubs said:

So I beat the story mode just now and let me tell you guys that you have no idea what is waiting for you. This goes from 80's cop movie to (massive end game spoilers removed) Holy crap this was goddamn amazing, my jaw was to the floor for the entire final sections. Nintendo, lock these guys down. You would be fools not too. This game needs a sequel so bad. I never saw this coming, I never dreamed it would get so epic.

Xellos said:

This game is awesome. So many corny jokes, all delivered by such good voice actors. Each mission has been a delight. The city design is just outstanding too; maybe the best in any GTA clone. I've spent hours goofing around and I've been finding optional paths, jumps, bricks, easter eggs, and mini-missions every few minutes. I especially love the free run missions, which are like little slices of platforming joy. My only complaints are the long loading times and the overly sensitive steering, but these are minor quibbles in the face of such a charming and well made game.

Jmls1121 said:

The more I play this game, the higher up the list of "favorite open world games" this game rises. This game is really incredible. Just unlocked time trials, so fun. I can't believe I am saying this, but this game has a real chance of unseating San Andreas for me.

Malingenie said:

Most bliss I've felt in a game this year, a year that includes heavy contenders like Dishonored and Xenogears. Amazingly balanced and packed game. The exploration in this game should be the new bar for open world games.

Deactivision said:

Finally got to play this game this weekend. My son and I are having an absolute blast with it. It is by far the most entertaining Lego game I've ever played, and it is huge in scope and in content. It looks fantastic, image quality is very high and any aliasing issues are extremely minor -- essentially unnoticeable for me. Highly, highly recommended.

It's great to finally have some awesome new content for the Wii U, which proves its worth to me with every new exclusive game like this one.

Calamari 41 said:

After playing this all weekend I can pretty much say that this is the most densely packed and fun GTA-style open world in a game yet. It seems like every time I get out of a car to start a mission, I get distracted by seeing some blue climb-able studs in the distance and end up spending the next half hour or more climbing, exploring, and jumping from building to building. This is a huge contrast to typical GTA-style exploration system where you basically just go into alleyways and maybe climb a ladder to a rooftop every now and then for a hidden package equivalent. The missions are also infinitely better. Everything involves fun puzzles, exploration, and platforming. By contrast again, 90% of GTA-style game missions are either "go here, kill this guy, and escape," "deliver this from point A to point B," or "follow this car."

I seriously can't say enough about this game. Without a doubt the best game I've played since at least Sleeping Dogs, and its probably better. The only negative is the load times, but the big ones only hit every once in a while. I just have GAF open on my phone and read a few posts when this happens.

This game is worth buying a Wii U for, and I highly doubt that the PS4/720 will have a game to match it in their launch windows. For me, this is the game of the new generation until something comes along and unseats it. GTA V will sell ten times more, but I highly doubt it will be half as much fun.

Anyway, warp pipe?

This is pretty cool, they put in green Nintendo warp pipes into the city in NFS U.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted U Warp Pipes house unique cars

The game contains a total of three, each of which houses a “secret garage”

The Wii U edition of Need for Speed: Most Wanted includes three hidden "secret garage" Easter eggs throughout, a Criterion representative told Polygon.

We were informed of the locations, which you can see for yourself on the map below, where users can access Super Mario-styled green pipes at various hidden entrances circled in green. By driving on top of the pipe and pressing down on the left stick, the player will gain access to one of the three hidden garages. Each garage contains one unique car:

Red and Blue Ariel Atom: Representing Mario

Pink Caterham: Representing Princess Peach

Green BAC Mono: Representing Yoshi

Users will only be able to drive the themed cars in single player mode and will not be able to customize the paint of the cars. Similarly, handling, mods and milestone are the same as the non-themed versions of each car.

Last week a player found a few nods to Nintendo on the Wii U version of Most Wanted, after unlocking license plates referencing Mario, Princess Peach, Yoshi and Pokemon.

1996 has been named as video gaming’s ‘golden year’ by a UK survey

1996 has been named as video gaming’s ‘golden year’ by a survey of 2,000 GAME customers.

Big hits released that year included Resident Evil, Super Mario 64, Tekken 2, Crash Bandicoot, FIFA 96 (which was the first in the series to use real-life licenses) and the mighty Tomb Raider.

2002 was the runner-up with releases such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Elder Scrolls III and Halo.

Perhaps more surprising is the Wii’s nomination as the best console ever released. The all-conquering PS2 only achieved a fourth place finish.

Here are all the results:

Top Five Years for Gaming

1. 1996 (14%): Tomb Raider and Crash Bandicoot on the PlayStation and Nintendo 64 launched. We were singing along to Baddiel and Skinner’s Three Lions and Brit Pop was at its height

2. 2002 (13%): Halo and Elder Scrolls III on the Xbox and Grand Theft Auto Vice City. BBC 6 Music arrived on our airwaves and Arsenal won the FA Cup

3. 1991 (12%): Street Fighter II and Super Mario World on SNES and Lemmings was out on the PC. It was the start of the Iraq war and the year Bryan Adams made history when (Everything I Do) I Do It For You entered its 15th successive week at number one

4. 1985 (11%): Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt and Donkey Kong Jr on the NES and Ultima IV and Oregon Trail on the PC. It was the year Eastenders went on air and the mullet was considered the most desirable hairstyle for men and women alike

5. 1980 (10%): Pac-Man and Centipede in the arcade, Space Invaders on the Atari 2600 and Zork on the PC. It was the year John Lennon was shot dead and David Bowie was at number one with Ashes to Ashes

The Top Consoles of All Time

1. Wii (15%)

2. Xbox 360 (10%)

3. PlayStation 3 (9%)

4. PlayStation 2 (8%)

5. Sega Mega Drive (7%)

6. PlayStation 1 (6.5%)

7. Super Nintendo (6%)

8. Game Boy (5%)

9. N64 (4.5%)

10. Nintendo DS (4%)

That is the single worst list I ever have seen. Having wii at number 1 shows that they polled people that don't know what they are talking about. The best year is 1998, I don't think it's that close.

I'm a few hours into Resident Evil 6. Kind of a weird beginning, then I started on Jake's story.

So far its exactly what I thought. Its not as bad as people made it out to be AS A GAME ON ITS OWN, but as a RE title its hugely disappointing. Not only does it not feel like a horror game at all, but everything about the game just feels a LITTLE bit off...the controls, the field of view, the AI, the inventory...it all just feels like it should have been better and all these little things add up.

The game has had its moments of coolness, but on the whole it just does not have that typical Resident Evil magic at all. From what I've read I expect this feeling to continue through the entire game. Again, I'm early in, but so far it feels like a 7/10 game with great production values on top.

It is a really strange game. Eventually all those quirks kind of tell off and I really learned to love the combat system. Also play with all multiplayer stuff on, have people invade your game and try for the cross coop moments
