I just ripped open my free Netflix trial letter only to find it ran out in May.
I assumed you had a pretty decent rig because you play a lot PC stuff.
Well, no. My PC shouldn't even be considered a gaming one. Old ass stuff with an E5300 core duo or something like that, a video card that was already outdated back when it went out, even more so nowadays, not to mention it's a slim HP system that it's used for family stuff and that I could manage to jam a small card inside. However, most of the shit I play is fairly old, for PC standards. But to be honest, I don't fret about playing stuff at less than ideal settings. I can make do with 720p, no AA and low flashy stuff as long as I can keep constant framerates and fairly high res textures. I've been able to play more recent stuff like Batman, Borderlands, SC2, even Metro 2033 as long as I'm willing to make compromises and for the most part I do, without making too much fuss about it.
Is it easier to buy console versions?
Well, sometimes it's easier, but console versions are always more expensive; to give a couple examples, I bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro 2033 at 5 bucks each, Batman AA was 7.50 and Batman AC was 20 or 25 when the console version is still over 60 bucks around here. Not to mention a few games I like are only found on PC and many older games are significantly harder to find for consoles than for PC.
Burnout Paradise shows me some shiny new car, voice-over starts, "To get Blah Blah SHUT IT DOWN".
Okay, how about just telling me what to do? Like SHUT IT DOWN beat it in a race? SHUT IT DOWN by crashing it? How do I find this car to start to assess the best way to SHUT IT DOWN?
I don't know why I am still playing this. Maybe to justify my 1.6 GB of updates it gave me? But I keep saying, "just one more race".
=-=-
Also, okay I know this is a fun game and I can eventually figure it out, but the following should not be questions that most come up for a DRIVING game on the internet:
1. How do I start a race?
2. How do I switch cars?
3. How do I unlock cars?
4. You appear to offer a license system, yet don't tell me how to become licensed. (okay, that a was a statement, not a question).
Also, this game still looks amazing.
This. All my Wii games look like that,![Nyaa](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
I'm addicted to this game now...
Yes but how many people would actually buy these games on the Wii with totally dumbed down specs? Would it be worth it to the publishers? I mean I'm sure you could make some kind of shitty version of Crysis on the fucking PS1 or N64 if you wanted to.
Oblivion wouldn't have to look that bad on Wii if Bethesda weren't terrible developers.
The violence in Deus Ex was designed to make you uncomfortable...?![LOL](/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
Oh, just like the violence in Deus Ex 3 is meant to look edgy and cool. Right.
This anti-violence bullshit is still going on. Eurogamer UK guys went on and on about how embarrassed they are to be related to the industry yesterday.
Get over yourselves guys.
This wouldn't be nearly so bad if any of these people accepted any responsability for it. But no, fawning over or even making violent games has nothing to do with there being violent games.
What do you guys think of the next XBOX being called, simply, "XBOX" (forever moving forward for all versions). Kind of what Apple is doing with iPad.
It would de-emphasize console "generations" and as such never be out of date because it would always just be "XBOX". It also takes the risk out from subsequent "launches" becasue they aren't launching a new system, just improving the existing one. Also gets them out of the PS3 vs XB2 type dilemma, which they deftly side-stepped this generation.
Someone pointed out (I had not noticed) that "360" was not used in the conference, that they always referred to the console as simply "Xbox", which would give some weight to my speculation.
Good point. Goes back to our "Gun or No Gun" segment in the podcast. If you want to be so fucking pious about it, stop accepting advertising for violent games. Enjoy making a living on that Harvest Moon advertising money (you stupid pricks).
Does this mean I don't have to buy one because I already have an Xbox?
Now they've literally done a 360 and are back to the original name.
Oh I can get Kameo.
Wow NPD is sad. This gen is beyond over. Max Payne 3 only 450k, they shipped 3 million. It will be $10 soon.
